Note: As a quick note this isn't a "I'm leaving" post or anything of the sort. More explaining where I'm at.
So, I was largely aloof for a while. And you may or may not be wondering about that. Well, if you weren't that's okay. You can just shuffle along to do your stuff. If you were wondering, I'll explain.
As many of you know I was a Teacher's Assistant for most of the summer. Of course, summer ended and by August the Teachers Assistant program did as well. I then went on vacation to Alaska for about 10 days as I mentioned. It was a very lovely trip and it's going to play a role momentarily. But first...
Around that time the pool which I was working at was starting to undergo annual maintenance. Draining the pool, ensuring the tiles are scrubbed, all that stuff. I came back and was starting to get my schedule in order for lifeguarding so that I could start job hunting but still make enough money to pay student loans. I also got roped into a project to start up a YouTube channel; that didn't last long due to a number of aspects I'd rather not go into and that project settled on fairly good terms. No friends lost either which is good.
So, the pool. Yeah that project became indefinite. There's issues with it so it closed, causing some chaos for the place I work at. We transferred things to the other pool and I still had work for the time being.
That as of yesterday has come to a grinding halt however. Yesterday that second pool was suddenly closed (also indefinitely) because of issues with it. So as of right now, I have no job to speak of. I have a job, but there are no hours because there is no pool. So at the moment I have no income.
That being said I'm not in a crisis mode right now. I have money stocked away for the next few months and worst case, at least one of the pools should be open by the time it dries up. Either that or my job search will finally pay off and I will have a new job. Or I'll pass one of the civil service exams I've applied for with flying colors and get a job in civil service (which would be even better frankly).
Additionally, in the background I've been slowly plugging away at the photos I took on the trip to Alaska. They are beginning to get attention and that is starting to open up a few potential doors for me. I won't say anything right now because I don't want to jinx it but it's good, possibly really good. Meanwhile, I've decided I may start participating in art shows/art fairs as the photos I've worked on are great according to the people that have seen them. That should provide a small income.
This is all on top of other personal things by the way. Old enemies circled around for another shot at me and failed, crises with friends that had to be defused (some by my own hand, others by the hands of enemies), and scores that had to be settled once and for all.
In short, I apologize for my absence. There's been a lot going on as I transition from a school life to an adultier adult life in full and now that I've started to enjoy photography again things are changing still. I'm still trying to find myself and where I fit in in the world. Moving forward however I will be more active in the community than I was; that includes the recruitment aspect since I promised to tackle that head on. However, I won't be fully back into RPing yet until I get things settled. I will be active on Discord and Chatango though, especially since much of my time will be looking for a new job and finally leaving my old line of work behind.
So yeah. I'm not dead nor did I pack up and leave without telling anyone. Just, have been distracted with all the other things in the world. Just wanted to let y'all know.

The Duma Monarchy in Russia
1905 - 1917
Part I. Saving the Monarchy
I promised Flobro to do an article-thingy on Russian history, and perhaps an interesting one would be about the so-called Duma Monarchy or the Duma era, the period between 1905 and the 1917 Russian February Revolution during which the Russian Tsar accepted some form of constitutional limits to his ''autocratic'' powers and enabled the creation of an elected legislative body, the Duma.
It is an interesting period to look at because 2017 is the centenary year of the Russian February Revolution and the October Revolution (the one where Bolsheviks came to power and established a Communist dictatorship). But instead of focussing on the events of 1917, which are very chaotic, confusing, and messy, the Duma period that preceded it is what I find personally more interesting. Because here the Russian Tsars were experimenting with democratic reforms and parliamentary politics, in a desperate attempt restore public confidence in the monarchy. One question that always accompanies this final episode of the Russian Empire is whether the creation of a Russian constitution and parliament would’ve been the beginning of a modern, constitutional Russia - capable of averting violent revolution and bloody civil wars. The argument of many historians often goes that, had the World War not ruined the fun, the Duma Monarchy would've never collapsed. Other historians instead point to the fatal flaws in the design of the Duma system, its subsequent failure to alleviate political and social tensions within Russian society, and therefore in fact seeing it as the cause for further deepening the political rifts that would later enable Russians to murder fellow Russians. Lets be clear that historians agree that the Duma Monarchy functioned poorly. It was a political mess. The disagreements arise about whose fault that was, and whether the system had any future at all. Of course it also touches upon the never-ending historical debate about the ~main cause~ of the Russian Revolution and the fall of the Romanovs.
(Wojtech Kossak, Bloody Sunday. The Russian word for sunday, ''Voskresenye'', is coincidentally the same as the Russian word for Christ's Resurrection...)
''Bloody Nicky''
It was in the beginning of the year 1905 when thousands of workers from the St. Petersburg factories - many of them peasants who had recently abandoned their villages - laid down their work and followed the peaceful march of priest Father Grigory Gapon. Carrying crosses, candles, icons and portraits of the young Tsar, Nicholas II, the crowd headed towards the Winter Palace over the Nevsky Prospekt avenue to offer him a petition asking for worker rights and basic liberties.
The new Tsar was young and inexperienced. In 1894, ten years earlier, he suddenly inherited the throne after his father suddenly died. Nicky had never been given any preparation, and had to learn the very basics of politics when, at the age of 26, he was suddenly in charge of the largest empire in the world. Few people around the new Tsar had any confidence in him, and even Nicky himself believed he was unfit for the task. Nicholas' coronation of 1896 became a national tragedy. Thousands had gathered at the Khodynka fields just outside Moscow for celebrations, but a panic broke out and more than a thousand people were crushed to death. Nicholas, shocked by the tragedy, wanted to cancel the festivities at his court that evening, but he was pressured to carry on with the protocol. The young Tsar wept during the dancing in the ballroom. Ten years later, when Nicholas' first and only son was born and diagnosed with Haemophilia, the Tsar believed his reign was cursed. Nicholas' wife vanished from public life, feeling guilty for having doomed the Romanov dynasty, and tried to find comfort among the many spiritual ''healers'' that the Petersburg elite liked to hang out with - especially a mysterious Siberian named Grigory Rasputin. The Romanov family withdrew itself to its estates at Tsarskoye Selo, where they took care of their son, but also found themselves in a bubble - steadily losing sight of the reality in Russia, becoming strangers to the population.
As the workers moved through the streets of St. Petersburg, the Cossacks lined up. The climate had been very tense. In 1904, the Minister of Internal Affairs, Vyacheslav Plehve, had been blown up by revolutionaries. Father Gapon, the priest leading the march, was in fact an agent working for Plehve's secret police and their project to infiltrate the factories. Now he was a lose cannon. When the Tsar announced he would come over from Tsarskoye Selo to St. Petersburg for some festivities, Gapon and the workers saw it as an opportunity to address the incompetence of the government, which had just lost a war against Japan. Sensing a plot to kill the Tsar, St. Petersburg had been transformed in a military fortress. Nicholas was at Tsarskoye Selo. For no clear reason, the Cossacks lost their nerve. Men, women, and children were riddled with bullets, their icons and portraits of the Tsar-Father falling into the bloodied snow. Throughout Europe, Nicholas was denounced as a blood-thirsty monster. In Russia itself, the event was a crucial moment towards 1917. It shattered the historical myth of the sacred unity between Tsar and People, and more importantly, it de-legitimized Nicholas as Tsar. Since ancient times, it had been a popular belief among Russians that the Tsar was as a father to the people, and thus responsible for their well-being. A Tsar who did not look after his flock, was therefore not a true Tsar, and revolt was not only justified, but almost a must. This logic pervaded all the great previous popular uprisings in Russian history, with peasant armies denouncing the Tsar as a ''false Tsar'' and supporting a pretender who claimed to be the ''True Tsar''. After the Bloody Sunday massacre, the news quickly spread across Russia that ''Nicholas Romanov, Formerly known as the Tsar, had spilled the innocent blood of Russian workers''.
An eye-witnesses of Bloody Sunday would later recall the reaction of the petitioners to the violence. ''I observed the faces around me, and I detected neither fear nor panic. (...) I saw these looks of hatred and vengeance on literally every face. The Revolution had been truly born, and it had been born in the very core, in the very bowels of the people.''
The Abyss
The Tsar's response to the events could not have been more insensitive. He invited a delegation of workers to Tsarskoye Selo, where, instead of listening to their rather simple demands, he lectured them as a bunch of children who had been naughty. Violent revolutionaries took their revenge by blowing up Nicholas' uncle, Sergey Alexandrovich - governor of Moscow.
From there, things went from bad to worse. Peasant disturbances spread across the countryside, with landless peasants seizing land and attacking wealthy land-owners. Strikes shut down factories, workers formed revolutionary ''councils'', Soviets, Cossacks rioted in the streets, Pogroms erupted against the Jews, and as Russian sailors lost their lives in the war against Japan, they mutinied as well. The urban and provincial educated classes, professionals, and even businessmen, supported the revolutionary disturbances - demanding political participation. By October 1905, the entire country had come to a standstill under the chaos. As factories, trains, and peasants had stopped working, food supplies came to a standstill. Schools closed, hospitals shut down, and even electricity went down.
The forbidden Russian Social Democratic Party was among the factory workers helping to organize themselves politically, and preparing them for confrontation. St. Petersburg was quickly reinforced by extra troops, with bridges being lifted to isolate the centre from the working-class districts, and machine guns posted in front of government buildings. Complete silence then reigned in the streets of the capital, with everyone awaiting the storm.
Behind the scenes, at Tsarskoye Selo, Nicholas met constantly with his advisors, his chief minister Sergey Witte, and a special Crown Council that had to explore the possibilities of implementing reforms. Nicholas' advisors all told him the same: he had two options. Crush the rebellion, and rule by force alone. Many more ''Bloody Sunday's'' would follow. Or give the people their constitution and their civil rights. Virtually all of Nicholas' advisers told him to do the latter. But Nicholas was so indecisive that one of his uncles, Prince Nikolai Nikolayevich the Younger, reached for his gun, pressed it against his head, and threatened to commit suicide in front of the Tsar - rather than to use his troops against the Russian people.
Sergey Witte, a brilliant administrator of distant Dutch descent, was the chief advocate of the ''constitutional'' path, not because he was a liberal, but because he sincerely believed it was the only viable way to preserve the monarchy. The Tsar finally caved in and enabled Witte to write and publish the October Manifesto, which promised the people civil liberties, an elected Duma representing all social classes, and that no law could come into effect without approval of the Duma.
Constitutional Autocracy
The October Manifesto did not solve the monarchy's problems. On the contrary. Unrest continued, only now, politics had been complicated. The moment that the Court announced its intention to create an elected representative body, representatives of especially the educated and professional classes demanded to have a say in how the electoral system should work, and what the exact powers of the Duma should be. The Court continued to exclude the public in this process, and decided over the future electoral process within the secretive meetings at Tsarskoye Selo. But also within the Court, disagreements emerged over these issues. The Court was basically divided between those who wanted to reduce the Duma to a sham-parliament, and those who were (out of a deep conviction of the popular loyalty to the Tsar) willing to make the best of it. For example, how should the voting system work? The conservatives argued in favor of an estate-based representation, which would exclude the newly emerging classes (the provincial middle class and urban working classes), which happened to be the most radical among the people. It would also heavily favor the Orthodox church, the aristocracy and the landed gentry, and the peasantry - all of them hostile to Liberal and Socialist ideas.
Sergey Witte was among those favoring an estate-based voting system over universal suffrage, when the Crown Council convened in december 1905. In private conversations between Witte and Tsar Nicholas, before the session started, Witte tried to manipulate the Tsar, warning him that the Duma would not immediately pacify the country. At the same time, Witte tried to assure him that in the long run, the Tsar would enjoy popular support. Nicholas' answer set the tone for the future Duma Monarchy: ''I very well understand that I am not establishing a helper, but an enemy.''
After lengthy and heated discussions, in which everyone agreed the goal was to avoid a ''radical'' Duma, but sharply disagreed which electoral system was useful to achieve that, a compromise was reached by Sergey Witte. He proposed a Duma on the basis of universal male suffrage, thus bringing in a large amount of unreliable peasant representatives, radical members of the intelligentsia, the provincial middle class, and the proletariat. To counter the unavoidable radicalism of the Duma, they would reform the already existing State Council into a legislative body as well, with its members hand-picked by the Tsar.
On top of that, another addition was made. Some historians have referred to Russia's social system since 1861, the abolishment of Serfdom, as ''social Apartheid''. The various social estates, the peasantry in particular, were excluded in many ways, and treated as a foreign people. If a peasant committed a crime, for example, he did not go to the ordinary justice court, but was sent to a special court for peasants. This element was added to the voting system. The estates voted separately, and the results of the peasant voting would not have the same weight as that of the landed gentry. In the background, a violent uprising had broken out in Moscow.
The Tsar in the end went with the most complex system one can imagine. He rejected universal suffrage, and went for estate-based voting, but in order to satisfy the new classes without inviting too many radicals, and to limit the influence of the peasantry, he also added property and tax requirements. Then there were also separate rules depending on the type of property, (landownership and business), which were further subdivided into types of business, location, and for workers it all depended on the size of the factory they worked in. The new Electoral Law of December 1905 was difficult to understand even to lawyers, leave alone to illiterate peasants. The government didn't even bother to inform the public that the Duma was going to be a bicameral legislature, with the Tsar appointing the State Council as the upper chamber.
The elections produced a radical Duma, but not as radical as feared. By far, the most dominant party was the Constitutional Democratic Party, nicknamed the ''Kadets''. It was a staunchly liberal movement, demanding much tougher political reforms to strengthen the constitutional order, and mainly representing urban and provincial middle classes and peasantry. Many of them had taught peasants to read, cured peasants and doctors, or defended peasants in courts as lawyers. The peasants trusted them, and they vowed to serve peasant interests. Their economic views were leftist, if not Marxist, since they distrusted industrial capitalism and demanded redistribution of land for the peasants. The left wing of the Duma was dominated by the Trudovik party, a moderate breakaway faction of the Socialist Revolutionary Party. The SR was a radical peasant movement, resisting industrial capitalism, the monarchy, and demanding land redistribution. It boycotted the elections, but the Trudoviks did want to participate. The third largest group consisted of ''independents'', mainly aristocrats, land-owners, nationalists, and others who - so opposed to democratic politics - refused to join or form any political party at all.
The Tsar received the new legislature in April 1906 in the throne room of the Winter Palace. For the first time in Russian history, representatives from all over the country, from all classes, were present in one room and stared at eachother face to face. It was a bewildering experience for them. Peasants in dirty clothes, merchants in frock coats, lawyers in suits, priests in robes, aristocratic officers in braided uniforms, courtiers and noble families with lavish decorations - all of them in one room, and shocked by what they saw across the room. One group was infuriated the wealth and splendour of the Tsar, the Tsar was insulted by the cool attitude of some in the room, and the other group was disgusted by what they saw as barbarian bomb-throwers.
The Russian Empire was now an Autocracy with an elected parliament, but it did not yet have a constitution. That would be the first task of the State Council and the State Duma.

Community rules adopted!
After a long month of closed door discussions between admins, the new, flashy, fancy, shiny community guidelines were rolled into the light of day with much fanfare! The new guidelines were longer and more in-depth than the previously sparse set they were designed to replace, which had been criticised for a lack of both clarity and substance. Authors of the new ruleset spent a month drafting a document that answered formerly ambiguous questions of forum etiquette, rule enforcement, and administrative authority while community staff debated the finer points of the new changes.
Finally, the community released the final draft of the new formal community etiquette in early August for public comment, receiving substantial praise and some spurts of criticism from members of the community; the greatest criticism came from minority voices, who voiced concerns over the new "authoritarian" direction of the community administration. The official thread for comment remained silent of comment and criticism however, signaling the public's consent, and so the newly re-written regulations were quietly adopted after the deadline for comment passed on the eve of the 28th August.
Implementation of the new rules has gone over quietly throughout the community with surprisingly few hiccups during the transition, most of which remain related to new etiquette regarding the forum chatbox.
The oddly curious can view the new Eternity Community Etiquette through this link, but...why?

Dying New Galasia
The story of revolution in Galasia continues with the near-collapse of Galasian regime forces to the Angirisian incursion. A war that started with a military overthrow of the country's government and monarchy, the Near East country of New Galasia has seen itself embroiled in the cauldron of civil conflict in its eastern enclave of Eastmarch for the last seven years as the local population used the coup in the west as a pretense to seek seek independence and their disparate other aims.
Angiris has intervened in the west, hitting the "illegitimate" military regime forces in a hard, powerful thrust south and west to end the supposed "government" and restore order to the chaos on its border. But, as Angiris focuses its attentions in the west, the fragile detente between militias in the east is broken when groups make final pushes to claim as much power and land as possible before the coming, inevitable talks of peace...a storm before the calm. What will come of the people in the East, especially when strong doubts still remain that the Angirisians really intend to give the Rojadavi their due independence?
Quote:Amrun stood stark still in a line with several older men, his rifle shouldered in the usual pseudo-military fashion his trainers had drilled into him over the past weeks. Short and wiry with a baby-clean face, he contrasted greatly with nearly all of the other men, the stocky men, the bearded men, the men with leathery bronze skin from decades of toiling under the hot Galasian sun.
Throughout his childhood, Amrun listened silently to the hushed discontent of his fathers, his friends' fathers, his grandfathers; the humiliation of using foreign words to talk about your own home, the continued occupation from the western pocket of the "country," the second-class treatment and constant reminders of subjugation and who your "betters" were. The antagonism was constant, yet fighting against it was pointless, as you had no rights, you were just mules to put profits into the pockets of western imperialists. You were expendable, a worthless brown savage in a savage brown land.
Not that they would do anything about it, of course. At least, not until the coup.

Eclipse fever grips Eternity
It's not every day That one gets to see an eclipse live in person, and in its totality. All to often the weather gets in the way, or we have schooling or work that prevents any viewing. Most commonly, the event just takes place somewhere far outside of where we live. The most recent one, however, captured the attention and imagination of many Eternity members several months in advance, with discussions taking place in June and some members researching long before even then. Excited viewers from across Eternity anxiously awaited the 21st of August.
With the cosmic event now behind us, certain people keep reminiscing. You can reminisce with them!
Statues, Idols, and Symbols ~~ Oh My
Recent events in the real world - or rather the US, same difference, really - have sparked several fervent debates across the community regarding several topics that have crept into the national consciousness. Mr Flo, ever interested tryign to understand different points of view, has opened several points of discussion on these topics in the Gentlemen's Club as an effort to get people to explore their positions further. Will the discussions stay that way? Who knows; in the world today, it's become increasingly uncommon to be able to hold a rational, respectful debate between two people of opposing viewpoints, as too often people nowadays forget that they are nto the sum of their opinions and get weirdly irate at the thought of not being entirely in the right.
But we in Eternity care. Yes, we believe, even despite our own failings, that proper discourse can still function to bridge our cultural and ideological divides like it used to do so long ago:
Quote:So it's more or less in the subject title and the photos above. In recent years, there has been significant pressure regarding confederate statues, flags, symbols, etc. in the public sphere. While there has surely been dissatisfaction with confederate statues, flags, symbols, etc. for some time, this came up significantly in 2015, when there was significant backlash regarding the confederate flags being used atop government buildings and in other public spaces, and since then has grown to encompass all sorts of confederate symbols and statues.
In the years since, confederate statues in particular have gotten a lot of bad press, and it seems every month or so there's another mayor announcing their city will be taking down statues or removing symbols from government spaces, parks, etc. Even streets names after significant confederate leaders have been targeted.
This topic will be available for members to discuss how they feel regarding the subject of Confederate symbols, flags, statues, etc. Feel free to rebut, discuss, confirm, debate, all you'd like. I get that there are significant branches this discussion could take that aren't all on topic, so try to stay as close to the primary topic as you can, which is the confederate flags, symbols, and statues and primarily their removal/defence, etc.

[big][big]Eclipse fever grips Eternity[/big][/big]
It's not every day That one gets to see an eclipse live in person, and in its totality. All to often the weather gets in the way, or we have schooling or work that prevents any viewing. Most commonly, the event just takes place somewhere far outside of where we live. The most recent one, however, captured the attention and imagination of many Eternity members several months in advance, with discussions taking place in June and some members researching long before even then. Excited viewers from across Eternity anxiously awaited the 21st of August.
With the cosmic event now behind us, certain people keep reminiscing. You can reminisce with them!

[big][big]Statues, Idols, and Symbols ~~ Oh My[/big][/big]
So it's more or less in the subject title and the photos above.

Dear Directorate,
My contributions to this community are likely to be reduced for at least a few months soon, so I'd be asking to reduce the number of nations I RP.
My main question about this is: would they be kept as NPC, or rather removed from maps/history? This question is important because, besides RP/OOC considerations, it would have an impact in some of the sports events I will keep managing.
That's all for now, although there are some minor details which could be discussed, of course.
Thanks for your (maybe worthless) time.

. . : : Foreword : : . .
This set of rules cannot and are not intended to be all-encompassing, and are meant as a framework for acceptable conduct. As a member of this board, you acknowledge that you have read and are aware of these rules, and that you agree to abide by their terms. If you do not agree to these rules, then you may address your grievance to your community admins and argue your case for a change.
. . : : General Community Rules : : . .
1. Content and Behavior
1A) The rules contained here are in addition to and superceded by the forum's Terms of Use and Privacy Policy.
1B) Try to keep inflammatory and explicit language to a minimum. We realize casual back-and-forth ribbing with such language is common; simply stop if you're asked to stop, and refain from getting out of hand.
1C) Discussions of real-world religion and politics shall be kept exclusively to the Boring and Politically Correct Club and #politics on Discord when not referring to roleplay. The nature of our role play means we can't preclude talk about such topics through the course of discussing our own writing, but please keep such discussions related to roleplay only, and either end or direct them to the above places when they leave the RP topic or become hostile.
2. Spam & Malicious Content
2A) All accounts created solely for malicious spam, off-site advertising, scamming, soliciting, and any illicit activities will be irrevocably banned without exception or appeal.
2B) Spam games and other pointless content whose purpose is to inflate a user’s post count shall be contained within The Corner. Posts elsewhere shall serve some constructive purpose. Please try not to resurrect dead threads without some reason or new information.
3. Harassment & Community Conduct
3A) This community is meant as a hangout for people of relatively similar interests. At the very least, respect your fellow members as human beings and be courteous and mindful of others; please steer hijacked conversations back on topic, and refrain from constant antagonisms and "baiting" over interests and beliefs/lifestyle.
3B) Harassment is any behavior that disturbs or upsets, is characteristically repetitive, and often intended to be disturbing or threatening. Willful and deliberate harassment of any person will not be tolerated in our community, by or against any person. Harassment of members and nonmembers outside the forum is still subject to you being permanently and irrevocably banned from the community, including the forum, discord, any and all games servers, and anywhere else where the Eternity name is displayed.
3C) If you intend to leave Eternity with little or no intention of returning, do not attempt to delete your posts. Regular members lack the power to do this properly, and any attempts at doing so will be reversed. If you do not wish your content to remain after your departure, then ask a staff member for assistance.
4. Signatures & Profiles
4A) Forum signature limit is set to 9001 characters, to include all text and code, and shall exceed neither 800 pixel width nor 400 pixel height to prevent screen stretching for most people. Changing your screen name is allowed, but be reasonable and don't abuse this policy, to avoid confusion.
4B) Community members may have one forum and one Discord account per live person, with the exception of Community staff (for testing and administrative purposes). If you fail to receive an activation email or have other account login issues, contact a staff member for support.
5. Community Improvement
5A) The community is not perfect, and can always be improved:
- This Thread should be used to suggest improvements to the layout and function of the forums, chat, discord, and other aesthetic or functional improvements.
- This Thread should be used to suggest all other general improvements to the community as a whole.
6. Admin Enforcement & Complaints
6A) The following hierachy of actions exists for forum staff to follow regarding infractions of any rules, unless a specific section calls for some other action to be taken, including but not limited to:
1st Infraction: First verbal/written warning
2nd Infraction: Final verbal/written warning
3rd Infraction: 1-day account suspension of posting privileges.
4th Infraction: 1-week account suspension etc.
5th Infraction: 1-month account suspension etc.
6th Infraction: 3-month account suspension etc.
7th Infraction: Permanent account suspension etc.
6B) Any persons banned shall honor the length and terms of the ban, and the ban shall include all aspects of the community (the forum, chat, discord, NS RMB, and any other places that bear the Eternity name) unless otherwise stated. Attempts to circumvent or violate any ban shall see it extended by a length up to and including permanent account suspension or deletion at Staff's discretion.
6C) Please address complaints and issues about an aspect of the community, the forum, or of another person, via the recommended process below:
- For Roleplay-specific Issues: Contact the Chief of Logical Reason, via PM or on Discord. A response will be made as soon as possible.
- For Complaints about the Board or other Members: Contact the Chief of Public Relations.
- - If she is part of the problem (or otherwise unresponsive), contact the Chief of Staff Support.
- - If he is part of the problem too (or otherwise unresponsive), contact the Chief of Logical Reason.
- - Failing all else and as a last resort, contact the Chief Admin.
6D) Understand this forum is the Chief Admin’s playground and we are all playing within it. Staff serve at the Chief Admin’s discretion. These rules are not all-encompassing, and as such the word of Staff is law regarding rule enforcement and interpretation. However, fairness is better for everyone; if you feel a staff member is flaunting rules or exerting clear bias in rule enforcement, then please follow the above guidelines for complaints.
6E) If you have issues with members or aspects of the community that are giving you consideration to leave us, please make every effort to speak with an admin so we can try and resolve these issues both for you and other members.
. . : : Category Specific Rules : : . .
7. Modern Tech Role Play
7A) Specific MTRP rules are kept in this thread.
8. Alternative Role Play
8A) Alternative, Non-NationStates or non-nation based role play, or nation-based role play that takes place in a universe outside Siora will be conducted in this section.
8B) Currently, "Alternative Role Play" (henceforth "ARP") has five subsections, where more can be added as needs demands it:
- - Fantasia Design - This is where you can plan and place OOC threads for your non-SMTRP role plays; this exists for your convenience, and you are not required to make a thread here to create/start role play in Fantasia.
- - Fantasia - This is where you can start and reply to non-SMTRP role play threads.
- - Andlosheim - Both OOC and story threads for the Andlosheim magical fantasy role play setting may go here. Andlosheim-specific rules might be found in its OOC section.
- - Alternative Earth - It's Earth, but different. Perform nation and character roleplay in a version of Earth's past where history has been re-written, and can be vastly different to our own.
- - Pokemon Ultimate - Do you wanna be the very best, like no one ever was? Here lives Eternity's Pokemon RP setting.
8C) Thread creators have the authority to create and enforce specific rules for their stories, campaigns, and other such threads in the "ARP" section, and to decline the use of characters or participation by certain parties if those characters/people are deemed unreasonable or in violation of general community rules. Specific rules for specific Fantasia role plays may overrule general forum roleplay etiquette.
8D) RP thread creators (or GMs) have the authority to perform non-lethal autos for the purpose of preserving or progressing the plot with or without consent. However, creators/GMs MUST give critical warning before terminating a character's life without permission.
8E) As a general rule, respect common sense reality in our role plays and remain in character. In the absence of specific RP rules, try respecting general SMTRP writing etiquette (section 1) as best you can. Of course, RP creators may give permission or set guidelines that not only bend reality or allow for out-of-character moments, but also disregard normal RP rules and etiquette entirely, at their discretion.
9. Universe's End Restaurant
9A) This section of the forum contains all non-RP community content, and is split into the following sections:
- - The Bulletin Board - Exists for community announcements and news, houses the rules, and displays helpful information. This is not for spam games.
- - The Diner - Exists as a general catch-all chat forum for anything that does not belong in any other forum. This is not for spam games.
- - The Gameroom - Exists as a place primarily for video game stuff, but may also encompass tabletop and others. This is not for spam games.
- - Writer's Bloc - Exists as a forum for all non-RP literature, from sharing your own writings, the writings of others and your thoughts thereof, learning or teaching the principles of good writing, and more. May also include writing competitions. This is not for spam games.
- - The Corner - This is for spam games.
10. The Boring and Politically Correct Club
10A) The Boring and Politically Correct Club exists as our forum for serious discussion, essays and debate, politics, and more. This section is intended for substantial and worthwhile discussion. Do not post here if you intend to "win." There is no "winning" here; This forum exists as an exchange of ideas, to refine your own understanding on subjects through the forging fires of discourse.
10B) In the case of an argument or debate breaking out over a topic...good! Keep the discussion factual, respectful, and focused narrowly on the specific arguments. According to research, the likelihood of changing someone's opinion in an argument drops off dramatically after three back-and-forth exchanges, so if the disagreement has not been reconciled by then either rethink your argument and try a different approach, or concede that the argument is going nowhere and agree to disagree.
11. Oblivion Compound
11A) This section of the forum contains all community administrative areas, and is split into the following sections:
- - Hall of Forever - Come here to discuss community happenings, events, and to participate in improving the community. Community improvement efforts, petitions, and suggestions primarily fall into this area.
- - Twilight Castle - The "public offices" are located within this section. This section exists to view the public release of the Community Administration's behind-the-scenes work.
- - Embassy Square - This space is dedicated to Eternity's external affiliated communities, and exists for other communities to advertise themselves, share their own newsletters and information, and generally co-mingle in hopes of sharing members and minds.
- - Library of Eternity - This is where dead threads worthy of remembrance go, to be displayed before the public.
12. Extras
12A) Discord
i. The official Discord server is to be found here.
ii. All general forum rules also apply to conduct within the Discord server.
iii. Discord admins may include additional rules regarding conduct on the Discord server; check the Discord server's welcome screen for Discord rules and their changes. Where Discord rules are either contradictory or less stringent, the general community rules precede them.
iv. Discord admins may use temporary police actions in Discord chat as they see fit; permanent actions against violators of Discord server rules will be enacted in accordance with the community infraction policy as outlined in section 6A of these rules, and will require community staff approval.
v. Complaints about conduct or abuse by Discord staff shall be levied with the Chief of Public Relations.
12B) Nationstates
i. All above mentioned general forum rules also apply to conduct within NationStates and the Eternity NationStates regional message board.

So I've thought for a while about starting up some periodical thing like I used to do with those bathtub readers. I don't think I have the time to make long ones like that, but I think it would still be kind of fun to post something every so often sort of like a publication.
I've settled on Flo Talk, for now. It's going to essentially be a series of op-eds about topics I find important or pertinent. These don't necessarily have to be IC or OOC topics, just things I find important. I'm hoping I can post them monthly in the gentleman's club.
Flo Talk is kind of a soapbox for me, in a way, and I'll use it to illustrate my feelings on certain topics (more for myself than anyone else) but also to maybe drum up conversations on those same topics. The posts I make will entirely be my own opinion, rather than any official stance, and there will certainly be opportunities to rebut or critique what I say, my hope is that we can start conversations and learn more by communicating our ideas. While I certainly won't force myself to, I do hope I'll try to approach problems from multiple angles and sides to create a nuanced analysis of a given problem or topic before reaching a conclusion (if I even do, some problems are far too big to be solved simply).
So, I'm thinking I'll post the first one September 1st. Does anyone have any ideas for my first topic? If not I'll just pick something I feel is important.

1586 Holy Lanlanian Riksdag Elections |

The Alvan 1586 Holy Lanlanian riksdag elections are the first empire-wide elections held since Imperial Prime Minister Albert Sulkholm was dismissed and arrested on charges of conspiracy to commit treason. The arrest, executed in Zechyr 1585 after a multi-year investigation into Sulkholm's Imperial Sentric Party and culminating during Sulkholm's corrupt administration, sparked right-wing riots across the empire. Though the worst was overcome, continued protests and secessionist fervor in Azreae drove the Crown to postpone elections until after an empire-wide referendum on the fate of the empire.
In Vintyr 1585, its peoples spoke: Azreae voted to stay, while Syorid voted for independence. The nationalist government Azreae and the Moderate government of Syorid resigned to allow their successors to pursue the results.
A month later, with the majority of protests on their last legs and the damages from the riots largely repaired, the empire again went to the polls. This time to usher in the first government of an empire that has endured its greatest domestic challenge.
Select THREE.
Show ContentThe Parties:
The Parties
Moderate Party
The Moderate Party had held the riksdag for nearly two decades before the Imperial Sentric Party defeated it in Nueva 1584. Though the ISP has been forced to disband, many question whether Jorden Thorssen, leader of the Moderate Party, has the charisma to return his party to power.
It is socially conservative and economically left. It supports a strong military, is generally against foreign intervention, and prefers a multilateral approach to international affairs. It supports globalist policies.
Social Democratic Party
The Social Democratic Party is the Moderate Party's historic rival, and has been itching to return to power for the last two decade. They are lead by Ake Alburnstad.
The Party is socially liberal and economically left. It supports a strong military, is generally against foreign intervention, and favors some protectionist policies.
Green Party
The Green Party is very mixed across the board and is primarily held together by everyone's environmental beliefs. They support environment-friendly policies and regulations, and a moderate military. They generally follow the foreign policy of whatever larger party they're in a coalition with, though do support free trade in order to compensate for economic setbacks from increased regulations.
Liberal Party
The Liberal Party leans left on all counts. They advocate more protections for minorities and a loosening of Imperial immigration policies. They support a strong military and have a flexible foreign policy.
Union Party
The Union Party rose in reaction to the Azreaen independence movement from those intent on keeping the empire together. However, with the ISP's disbandment, some of its members have joined the Union Party due to its very similar policies.
It is moderately reactionary, and economically right. It supports a strong military and doesn't shy away from intervention. It is skeptical of both multilateral cooperation and free trade.
Democratic Sentric Party
The Democratic Sentric Party is one of the successors to the Imperial Sentric Party, herding together the ISP's more moderate members. It is socially conservative and economically left. It supports a strong military military and has advocated "international moralism", favoring a multilateral approach to pursue it.
Imperial Lanlanian Party
The more nationalist members of the Imperial Sentric Party formed the Imperial Lanlanian Party. It is socially reactionary and economically left. It favors a strong military and advocates a more proactive foreign policy, without ruling out military intervention. It favors protectionist policies, though is willing to work with other states in other regards.

Mr. Lomarre and I have had an interesting discussion regarding Black Lives Matter, the recent events in Charlottesville, Senor Trumps response to said events, the alt-right/left, etc. etc. etc. (there are a lot of connecting threads on this topic, so forgive me if I don't list them all.
He has agreed that we may both discuss this matter in the gentlemans club, as gentleman, rather than clog up the chatbox. Really this is the proper place for these sorts of discussions anyway. It gives people time to think about their responses, formulate them, frame them correctly, and then execute them properly.
As a sign of respect for him and his viewpoint, I will give Mr. Lomarre, someone I have known (as much as you can know someone via the internet) since at least 2012 (jesus has it been that long...), the right to begin the discussion and present his arguments first.
Mr. Lomarre, you have the floor o/o/o/o/o/o/
