Statues, Idols, and Symbols ~~ Oh My

So it's more or less in the subject title and the photos above. In recent years, there has been significant pressure regarding confederate statues, flags, symbols, etc. in the public sphere. While there has surely been dissatisfaction with confederate statues, flags, symbols, etc. for some time, this came up significantly in 2015, when there was significant backlash regarding the confederate flags being used atop government buildings and in other public spaces, and since then has grown to encompass all sorts of confederate symbols and statues.

In the years since, confederate statues in particular have gotten a lot of bad press, and it seems every month or so there's another mayor announcing their city will be taking down statues or removing symbols from government spaces, parks, etc. Even streets names after significant confederate leaders have been targeted.

This topic will be available for members to discuss how they feel regarding the subject of Confederate symbols, flags, statues, etc. Feel free to rebut, discuss, confirm, debate, all you'd like. I get that there are significant branches this discussion could take that aren't all on topic, so try to stay as close to the primary topic as you can, which is the confederate flags, symbols, and statues and primarily their removal/defence, etc.

Keep in mind there are gentlemans club rules, please follow them: http://board.eternityrpc.com/showthread.php?tid=14

  1585 IAT World Cup Finals
Posted by: Hadash - 08-14-2017, 01:50 PM - Forum: Sports and Competition - Replies (5)

1585 IAT World Cup Finals

The IAT World Cup Finals is the second highest tier of tennis tournament after the four Grand Slam tournaments.

It is held annually in Vintyr at the Sundgrond Arena in Vundt, Oslanburg, since 1582. The IAT Finals are the season-ending championships of the International Association of Tennis (IAT) World Tour, featuring the top eight singles players of the IAT Rankings. The first IAT World Cup Finals was hold in 1569.

Unlike all other singles events on the men's tour, the IAT Finals is not a straightforward knock-out tournament. Eight players are divided into two groups of four and play three round-robin matches each against the other players in their group. The two players with the best records in each group progress to the semifinals, with the winners meeting in the final to determine the champion. Though it is theoretically possible to advance to the semi-finals of the tournament with two round-robin losses, no player in the history of the singles tournament has won the title after losing more than one round-robin match.

Forum Rules Rewrite - Public Comment
Posted by: Seperallis - 08-13-2017, 02:00 AM - Forum: Hall of Forever - Replies (4)

Spoilered below is a rough draft of the new rewritten community rules. This thread is to be used for public comment on the rules, to correct errors, and voice concerns or suggestions. If there is no comment, then these will go into effect by the end of the month. Read carefully; if you have and questions or concerns, voice them now so we may find some way to address them.

Reasons for the change are written in the foreword. This took some time to write, with input from several people, with the aim of being both comprehensive yet...not...overbearing? Yeah, I guess that's the word.

Again, please comment only if you have suggestions for changes or questions. This thread will remain open until 27 Aug.

  Kvaennan Economic Community reform
Posted by: BrumBrum - 08-08-2017, 03:11 PM - Forum: Discussion and Planning - Replies (1)

So this is for members of the KEC Namely Goldecia ,Kolhar Imperium,Aeriland,Hylis,Affinland and Taenus.

Kvennan Economic Community Treaty

In the interests of regional peace, stability and prosperity the undersigned agree to the following.

1:Every nation shall drop trade barriers for members of the Kvaennan Economic Community
2:All tariffs shall be dropped by member nations on trade with member nations of the KEC
3:All financial service companies shall be able to freely offer products across all member states of the KEC providing they meet the state's regulatory standards.
4:The KEC shall establish a fully open aviation market within the KEC free trade zone
5:All service companies and media companies shall have the freedom to operate in any KEC member state providing they meet the state's professional and censorship standards as clearly outlined by the member states government..
6:The KEC shall operate an optional 28 day joint tourism visa for the whole KEC. Nations shall have the right to choose whether to join.
7:Any nation requires 66% of member states to vote in favour to join the KEC
8:Unless an opt-out occurs overseas territories of countries shall count as members of the KEC

The PSD are pushing for a change. So I'm suggesting a conference that all leaders attend changes are discussed to further integrate markets, standards and co-operate on more issues.

New proposals I would suggest are a optional Joint Kvaennan Space Programme, new agencies such as Kvaennan Medical and Pharmaceutical Authority to regulate training , medicines testing and acceptance, Kvaennapol to increase co-operation between law enforcement and maintain international databases and to add a new elected parliament with 5 legislators per nation or a proportional system selected however the nation feels fit sitting from 1587-1592 for example so selections every 5 years. This would pass laws on consumer protection, standardisation of standards as well as some environmental standards with these then being passed on to courts to rule on how it is implemented with a court at the Kvaennan level called the Kvaennan Court to rule on cases if a nations interpretation is challenged. Standards in individual nations can obviously exceed the minimums. The regulations themselves will be written by a commission with 2 commissioners from each nation. The Commissioners would also have powers to negotiate trade treaties with other blocs or nations but it would have to be approved by the legislators from the Kvaennan Parliament.

Something similar to this with the additional programmes:
Kvennan Economic Community Treaty

In the interests of regional peace, stability and prosperity the undersigned agree to the following:
1:All tariffs shall be dropped by member nations on trade with member nations of the KEC(Kvaennan Economic Community)
2::All financial service companies shall be able to freely offer products across all member states of the KEC providing they meet the state's regulatory standards.
3:TAny KEC airline shall be able to operate flights within the KEC without impedement as long as they meet safety standards
3:All service companies and media companies shall have the freedom to operate in any KEC member state
4:A Kvaennan Assembly made up of elected or selected members from each member state shall decide on consumer protections rules and come up with common standards for products , travel industry, services, financial products and environmental standards across the KEC area.
5:Standards shall be written in conjunction with the KEC commission made up of 2 members from each member state. The method of election or selection shall be decided by the member state.
6:The Kvaennan Commission shall have the power to negotiate on trade treaties with outside nations and blocs but these have to be approved by the Kvaennan Assembly and every member state head of state.
7:Kvaennan consumer protection law and tarriff free access to markets will be enforced by the Kvaennan Court
8:The KEC shall operate an optional 28 day joint tourism visa for the whole KEC. Nations shall have the right to choose whether to join.

  The Gettin' Swole Thread
Posted by: Sal - 08-06-2017, 06:54 PM - Forum: The Diner - Replies (6)

The place for anything about workout routines, fitness products, diet plans, bragging about your abs, whatever.

--

Mostly, I wanted recommendations for an updated running playlist because it has not been updated in more than a year, but if people had other fitness things to discuss, might as well plunk them here, too!

Looking for:

-- Mostly rock, pop and power metal; techno/dance and hip hop to a lesser extent, but anything with a sick beat, bruh.
-- BPM between 150 and 180-ish.  Or anything that sounds like it would be good for keeping a jogging-to-running pace.  (Will accept slower, chugging stuff for my lifting playlist!)
-- Lyrics about being the best or the strongest or something like that not a must, but a bonus. (It psychs me up.)
-- Male vocalists preferred.
-- It's an observation that punky-pop stuff from the 00s (Sum 41, Halestorm, etc.) tends to have the right beat and lyrical theme.  Hit me up.

Big no's for me:
-- Almost all black metal and screamo is a no-go.  Just... Eugh.  No thanks.
-- Anything with major beat changeups mid-song.  I'm not trying to trip and get launched off the back of the treadmill.
-- Acoustic stuff and live recordings, for the most part.

Some stuff from my current list (fewest to most BPM based on this thingo):

Resist and Bite - Sabaton

Slim Pickens Does the Right Thing and Rides the Bomb to Hell - The Offspring

Einmal um die Welt - Cro

Meteoriitti - Pariisin Kevät

On Mercury - Red Hot Chili Peppers

Misery Business - Paramore

Tequila - Korpiklaani

Top Secret:It was Sunday 15 Elva 1585 CE at the Samatlas Biological and Chemical Facility in the caves under the mountain. A new research facility set up in top secret by President Ramzan Igorevich and Defence Minister Arman Baltabekov. This move had been planned for a while. All those meetings over the last three years, all the meetings with scientists in secret it had all paid off. The scientists now opened the facility and were excited for the launch. For so many single scientists had sacrificed so much, the chance to ever have a family, to have people know they exist, all ties to family cut off and finally losing their old names and identity. But it was for the national good for this top team of the brightest graduates and scientists , none of whom officially existed anymore would be leading the great nation of Belayazemlya to glory, one virus and bacteria testing at a time and one chemical weapons test at a time.Every test on the Alsterenist prisoners and political prisoners would help in the development of chemical and biological weapons , weapons that would eventually be able to be released into Eretzora and Kazemura in any event of war. Yes the move would kill thousands potentially millions in those countries but if it detterred the nations it would all be worth it.

The scientist Abzal Kapanev showed Ramzan around the labs, the series of labs was sterilised and isolated the patients would be injected or infected with the viruses or bacteria then put into isolated cells, and notes would be made on how quick they died, how painful it was. They would test on all kinds of people from children, to adults to elderly in secret, the people would "dissapear" and be declared missing by government. After all who would notice the missing of these people and if they did it would just be a tragic missing persons case. As they toured the facilities Ramzan was impressed , he wanted to see a patient , the plant had already been operating a few months and in that few months they'd already started work on a virus, he decided he should be the person who infects the first person , one Samat Sakenev 17 , he was fit and healthy in the prime of his life when he protested the regime. This had not gone unnoticed within 3 months he was took by the state and his parents reported him missing , the state found a person to confess to his murder. Well now he would really be dead soon, Ramzan injected the virus into the young man, soon Samat would feel the consequences of his actions , he would die, slowly painfully and all the while being watched by the president of Belayazemlya.

Sep & Sal's Super Birthweek Poetry Party Blowout Bonanza!
Posted by: Seperallis - 08-03-2017, 10:54 PM - Forum: Challenges - Replies (5)

Hey hey, kids! Looking for something to do for these last few weeks before your dreadful classes begin again? Want to flex your writing muscles? Want free shit?! That's why we have Sep & Sal's Super Birthweek Poetry Party Blowout Bonanza!TM

Sal and I (okay, mostly I) were trying to figure out a way to disseminate these copies of Tabletop Sim on Steam, and given the time of year, I thought...why not something related to our birthdays? After bouncing the idea back and forth - just the one time, we really didn't think this through that much - we decided upon a super cool poetry slam jam!

How to Participate?

First, write a poem. The poem has to be:

  • A poem.
  • About Seperallis and/or Sal in some way?

That's it! It can be serious, it can be funny, It can be seriously funny, it can be a roast, it can be adoration...mostly adoration...it doesn't matter! Just, you know, a poem. About one or both of us. No sex, please (it wouldn't be as good as the real deal anyway).

You can submit as many poems as you want. More poems means more chances at winning a Fabulous PrizeTM!

Why to Participate?

A Fabulous PrizeTM!

You want specifics? Okay, the top three poems that Sal and I (but mostly Sal) like the most will receive the Totally Super Cool Grand Prize:
Tabletop Simulator! Hooray!

Already have Tabletop Sim? Then you'll be able to select your prize from one of the following (while supplies last):
Castle Crashers
Hammerwatch
Guns of Icarus Online

The prizes keep getting doled out until all three copies of Tabletop Sim have been given. Each person can only receive one prize regardless of how many poems you submit, but submitting more poems most likely means Sal will like at least one of them, so keep on writing, kiddos! Even if you don't get anything, each participant gets a special tiny token of appreciation, so don't be shy! Angel

But wait, there's more! After the submission period ends, there will be a public vote for the forum's favorite poem! The winner of the vote gets a Super Special Secret "Prize"!TM

When to Participate?

Now! Right now! The bonanza Begins: Now and Ends: 10PM GMT, 23 August, after which prize winners will be announced.

HOWEVER, the super special public forum vote for the forum's favorite poem Begins: 10PM GMT, 23 August and Ends: 10PM GMT, 31 August

Be sure to have all your poetry submitted by the 23rd!

All forum members are eligible to participate! Except for myself and Sal, of course.
