  Military rule
Posted by: BrumBrum - 07-06-2019, 11:57 PM - Forum: The Directorate - Replies (3)

Could there be a rule where every nation has to declare military budget and % of gdp figures alongside military troops so everyone knows how big other militaries are and to stop militaries suddenly being big.As it stands theres nothing to stop people looking at others military stats and simply doing a bigger military than their opponent.

Militaries by nation. This sheet has the size of militaries and I encourage others to share about their military size.

  A united Skathia?
Posted by: BrumBrum - 07-05-2019, 02:19 AM - Forum: Siora - No Replies

It was 1600 just months into his second term. James had worked on trade and achieved treaties in various countries around the world however now he wanted something different. Something more. He had run on a vision of a new treaty one that would revolutionise Skathia. He sent out a letter to the Nyland president and then letters to the Mandevine Community members inviting them to a conference.

The letter read :
Dear President Roxanne

I James Perrier-Abbott , president of the Mandavine Union believe our peoples have much in common such as our belief in universal values in human rights, diversity and respect of all humans regardless of our cultural differences. I also believe we have much to gain in further co-operation. I am today writing to you with this in mind.

I propose a new structure for the Nyland and Mandavine Community trade, regulatory and cross border securuty co-operation that recognises our shared democratic values, common issues and trade links. I believe more co-operation standardization and movement between our countries for tourism, economics and education can only benefit our peoples. With this in mind I would like to invite you to a conference in Quentin to discuss future co-operation and the future relations within Skathia and the Mandavines. The conference would discuss issues of security, economic, education and environmental co-operation among other issues to see the best way forward with a view to potentially develop trade treaties with the Mandevine community. I believe this will benefit trade and tourism withint our region.
May we move forward in harmony to greater things for our nations and into a bright future of co-operation, peace and stability within Skathia.

Yours Sincerely , James Perrier-Abbott president of the Mandavine Union

With the letter sent out all that was now needed was to wait for responses

  Vermin eliminated?
Posted by: BrumBrum - 07-03-2019, 11:45 PM - Forum: Siora - No Replies

It was 19:00 in Eiddinn, Matei Keegan-Nicolescu and Aoibheann Keegan-Nicolescu were dining out with the 3 children 6 year old Iancu Keegan-Nicolescu, 13 year old Cian Keegan-Nicolescu and 16 year old Nadia Keegan-Nicolescu at O'Mahony's a traditional strathaen restaurant in town. They had had a good day so far and had stopped off back from holiday to Hopkins Valland and Hopkins Eskkya. They would go to their small town later that night. All was well in their world, the kids were happy and loving their Strathaen Veg Stew a common dish at local restaurants. They had a good meal paid the bill and left for home.

In the night things went south very quickly. Nosebleeds started then the shortness of breath. 6 year old Iancu was the fist to succumb followed by Cian 5 minutes later. The parents tried desperately in vain to help but it was too late as they were suffering too. They called the ambulance but it was too late. They watched as their 6 year old son and 13 year old son died in front of their eyes asphyxiation taking hold. The ambulance came the scene they saw was shocking they took the family to hospitals with the rest struggling for life. They then discovered the note , the note confirming its link to the home ministers comments. This was given to the police. The police alarmed phoned the new home minister who then woke up Blair Gobnet McLucais. She was furious and knew to be concerned , the government would release their statement and call for a meeting with Carpathia, the first in a while. She had warned of this if the CN did not sack him immediately but the CN had dragged their heels , this was on them.

  Khokharsa Expansion
Posted by: Hadash - 07-01-2019, 07:20 PM - Forum: The Directorate - Replies (2)

Directorate Use Only
Expanding Country: Khokharsa
EC.'s Government Type: One-party state socialist republic

Campaign Setting: 1600
Campaign Goal: Northern Skathia (for example, the area west to Khokharsa, including the coast, until that river close to northeastern Nyland)
Informational Links: Factbook

When did you last have an Expansion? Started on April 2018 (technically just finished)
When was the Expanding Country's last military conflict? 1540
Why do you seek to expand? to increase Khokharsan influence in Northern Skathia, to spread Skathian socialism

Campaign Plot
Elite divisions in [Northern Skathia country] led to low-intensity military conflict which involves power struggle, constitutional crisis, regional divisions, and ethnic tensions. One of the factions will rely on the support of armed groups and militias supported and armed by Khokharsan government in order to regain power. Khokharsa may eventually directly intervene to either install a more friendly government, instigate territorial tensions or even annex territory.

Potential for Other Player Involvement
Flo may be involved RPing one rebel faction. Other are invited to participate.

Besides Nyland, other nearby player-nations include Bisica, Mandavine Union, or Batavia.

How your country may evolve from success
Khokharsan government may adapt an even more proactive foreign policy, along militarization of Northern Skathia.

How your country may evolve from defeat
There may be a change in the leadership, or either the government or the economy may collapse, depending what kind of defeat obviously.

  Hoinom/Tieguo Expansion
Posted by: Hadash - 07-01-2019, 12:37 PM - Forum: The Directorate - No Replies

State: Hoinom
Population: 65,989,162
GDP: $870,970,490,880 (GDPpc $13,198.69)

Length of war: 1589-1599

On a scale of 1-10, how intense was the conflict?
A nationwide scale would be probably around 6, I'd say. But important regional differences: It could be a 8 in some regions, but 2 or lower in another (see below).

How much of your state did the country affect?
Based on the 1587 census, for easier area-focused estimations, you may consider the following information:
-Proper war affected areas with a combined population of 35,212,177 in 1587 (that's, about 55% of total the population)
-Provinces that experienced some fighting but not real war fighting during most of the years would add around 10,963,721 in 1587 (around 17% of the total population)
-The rest of the country only experienced some minor fighting and state repression in general, areas around 17,477,581 in 1587 (up to 28% of the total population).

Tieguo airstrikes probably only affected 16 of 33 provinces, which combined population would be 51% of the total population.

How many civilian and military deaths do you estimate?
I'm not very good at numbers, but I assume you can calculate a realistic number considering the information above.

Tieguo's imposed no-fly zone covered provinces with an original population of nearby 22,000,000. I imagine it would be more like "Libya-like" than "Syria-like" airstrikes, so speaking. Occasional airstrikes by Tieguonese Air Force also happened in an area that provinces that had a 10,520,216 population in 1587, but there would be more limited airstrikes against more clear military targets, so the casualties would be considerably lower than in the original no-fly zone.

Other no purely numbers you may consider or add to the final estimation:
-Pre-war famine and related deaths would be no more than 10,000-15,000.
-Early state repression would be probably below 1,000, up to 3,000 if you count early insurgency as well.
-1589 coup d'etat probably caused no more than around 500 casualties, but following repression may increase to 2,000-5,000 casualties.
-Extrajudicial killings in the northern provinces, by several factions, may be up to 10,000.
-Anti-elite repression in revolutionary provinces could have caused 20,000 deaths.

It is also noted that 2/3 of the provinces that were mostly affected by the war, did not experience much fighting since 1595, as there was several ceasefire agreements since then.
In the same way, the rest of the country (the other 45%), would have not experienced no real fighting since 1592

How many civilians do you estimate were internationally displaced?
I wrote that in 1591, there were 580,000 Hoinomese refugees in neighboring countries, and another 1 million internally displaced. An real fighting has been minor and mostly focused in a few provinces since 1595, I imagine that not much that the double of that original number (although probably a large number of refugees have been able to return the country since them).

As the expansion is finished, Tieguo can be turned into a NPC again.

And now that I mention, I also finished Keszaria last RP, so Keszaria can be turned into a NPC too.

  New Zealmark for expansion

Expanding Country: New Zealmark
EC.'s Government Type: Monarchy

Campaign Setting: 1600
Campaign Goal: [Image: unknown.png]
The goal is to annex the land right there
Informational Links:none atm
When did you last have an Expansion? Not at all
When was the Expanding Country's last military conflict? From 20 years ago
Why do you seek to expand? control More of the rivers as naval transport is getting even more important for New zealmark and its goverment want it because its getting paranoid

Campaign Plot
the people to the left might swear loyalty to New Zealmark because their still pretty close and enthnic soyabarian people might still live there asswell (its on the coast) and more to the southern regions I did there might be some force required to add it to new zealmark

Potential for Other Player Involvement
Ishnalla might help

How your country may evolve from success
It will by having more coastal land to build coastal harbors on, which will lead to more imports and exports for the entire region

How your country may evolve from defeat
Given the instabilty of the region in the past, it might collaps on itself

Krasia, Republic of Wadyiah
0900 Hours

General Asad al-Hussain looked at the briefing in front of him with no sign of emotion on his face. One would think that his mood would be a little different, seeing how a mere twelve hours ago, his forces had seized control of the country in a well-timed, well-executed military coup, deposing the elected president who now awaited his fate in one of the empty storage rooms beneath the presidential family. Hours before, soldiers had stormed the building and after quickly overwhelming the president's security detail, had detained the head of state and his family, unceremoniously binding their arms and legs with tape, before dumping them inside the first empty room they could find. Transporting their new captives to another location would have risked a rescue attempt from loyalist forces and besides, its not like they needed to keep them detained for long. It was nearly time for the general's televised speech, anyway.

In their dark, improvised cell beneath the palace, the president and his family had spent the night in fear, but also resignation. The president had already figured out that if they haven't been transported to a more secure location yet, their fate had already been decided. They had spent the seemingly unending wait in silence. How could they speak? Afterall, their mouths were covered in tape, their captors denying them even this final comfort. They only had the darkness and the silence.

Then, the sound of a door creaking open and a blinding shaft of light fell on their faces. Three soldiers entered the room, while the president could see several more outside. They dragged his whimpering wife by the hair, dumping her in the hallway like a sack of potatoes. They grabbed his sons and dragged them as well. Then, they dragged him out, too, throwing him on the hard floor before he could catch his breath. A soldier's boot connected with his face, hard and he could feel something breaking, probably his nose. More boots hit him, along with something metallic and hard. A few meters away, his wife and sons were receiving the same treatment, beaten with crowbars and the stocks of the soldiers' rifles.

In that moment, the president's will broke and the tears started to flow. He knew they were going to die, but this? This was just cruelty for the sake of entertainment. Again and again the soldiers struck. Again and again, the hallway filled with the sounds of muffled cries, injured flesh and breaking bones. Only after what seemed like an eternity of pain, did the beating stop. The soldiers grabbed their prisoners and dragged them along and up the stairs, into the courtyard at the center of the presidential palace, where a rope had been suspended between two military cars. Their hands were bound to the rope, hanging them half-upright, their broken legs dragging on the floor. A camera crew was setting up their equipment, reporting something to a soldier that was supervising them with a rifle in his hands.

The soldiers who had beaten them, formed a line, grim expressions on their faces. At a signal, they raised their rifles and fired.

"People of Wadyiah," the general spoke to the camera in front of him. "At nine o'clock this morning, the president and his family were executed for treason. In the interest of preserving this nation from those who would see it turned into a western puppet, I had no choice but to order my troops to act. I ask you know to stand with me in these trying times and cooperate with my forces to insure that the transition to a new government goes smoothly."

"With the goal of expediting this transitional period, as well as to facilitate detaining the traitorous president's co-conspirators, I have hereby decided to suspend the constitution indefinitely. Therefore, I am declaring martial law until all of the traitors are rounded up. In addition, in order to prevent foreign powers from disrupting our transition to a truly free and just regime, I hereby order all foreign embassies and the so-called foreign journalists to leave the country within 24 hours. After this period of grace expires, any so-called diplomats and foreign journalists remaining in Wadyiah, shall be considered enemies of the state and under the procedures set forth by martial law, shall be detained and summarily executed."

"In addition, the so-called Silistrian Communist Party and its traitorous paramilitary forces, are ordered to immediately disband and surrender their weapons and their leaders into the custody of the Wadyian military. The travesty of their so-called autonomy has gone on for too long and it ends today. We have allowed these foreign invaders onto our soil for too long and they have grown fat and arrogant off the wealth of Wadyiah and have forgotten their proper place. Thus, as of today, all ethnic Carpathians in the country are hereby stripped of their rights, all their property is hereby confiscated and they are no longer considered citizens of Wadyiah. Their proper place in the future, shall be to serve the true citizens of this country in perpetuity, in order to make up for the crime of colonization that they have committed against this country."

"I ask the true, pure-blooded people of Wadyiah to stand with me in these trying times, as we build a new nation, stronger and better than before, one ready to take its rightful place at the head of the table, a new and better, more democratic Wadyiah that belongs not to foreign colonists and parasites, but to its rightful owners, those of Wadyian blood and Akhadic faith. Long live Wadyiah, under the grace of god."

Ashar, Autonomous Territory of Silistria
0930 Hours

The last twelve hours had managed to dismantle everything that the war-scarred country had worked so hard to build for over a decade. The constitutional order had been overthrown, its place taken by chaos and fear. Nowhere was that fear felt more strongly than in Silistria, Wadyiah's southernmost region, who had earned its autonomy during the last civil war, having paid for it in blood.

If this general thought that the Silistrians would just accept his 'new order', laying down their arms and submitting to the enslavement of their people, he was either insane, or a fool. He and his coup forces would find that the Silistrians were no strangers to war, neither weak, or ill-prepared. Dimitrie Dobrescu, governor of Silistria as elected by the congress of the Communist Party, responded to al-Husain's demands with a short and final refusal, declaring his regime illegitimate and unconstitutional, then signing the order to mobilize the region's various paramilitary forces, a well-equipped and well-trained army in its own right. Then, he picked up the red phone on his desk and called the number which he had memorized when he was instated into office. He called the embassy of the Allied States. "Ambassador," he said. "We have a problem."

  1596 Tour de Valland
Posted by: Hadash - 06-14-2019, 01:57 PM - Forum: Sports and Competition - Replies (4)

1596 Tour de Valland

Stage 1 - Teenfjord to Siljean | Flat stage - 213 km

The first stage of the 1596 Tour de Valland ended with a predictable result: a mass sprint. Ostlander Johannes Rapp (Scholden-Gulcron) defeated Vallish sprinter Antoine Duchesnay (NDM Cycling) and Mordvanian Miroslav Gradishar (Iskra) to win the stage and become the first leader of the Tour de Valland.

Stage 2 - Siljean to Baardsen | Hilly - 156 km

While the third shortest stage in this Tour de Valland -excluding the three time-trial stages-, the second stage was impossible control, with Nenergo, BataVelo, Abbott, and MTS-Biassoni as the most active teams.

The peloton was reduced in the last kilometres to a main group of 28 riders. Following an attack by Vasili Sokolov (MTS-Biassoni) and Zdenek Hrovat (Nenergo) in the last hill, the group was reduce to eigh riders. Only Mandevine rider Max Rémy (Abbot Cycling) was able to follow the last attack, merely 800 metres before the finish, by Ceribian Zurab Dvali (Bagdati). Rémy defeated the Ceribian rider in the final metres to win the stage and become the new leader of the general classification.

Stage 3 - Maço | TTT - 25 km

The 1596 Tour de Valland entered in Vallish soil with a 25-km team time-trial. The stage was won by Mordvelo team, which defeated KyrzAir and Dido-GDC teams by four and six seconds, respectively. The losers of the day were teams such as Abbott Cycling, United Strathae, Magram, or Télecon teams, which lost more than forty seconds. Certainly not a decisive loss with still all the mountain stages and two individual time-trial stages to come, but important regarding the general classification.

Ceribia Zurab Dvali was the new leader of the general classification, with Svarnan Hira Sabanis (Baagh Cycling) coming second only one second behind.

Stage 4 - Romilly to Bourreau | Flat stage - 229 km

The fourth stage, the longest stage this Tour, was expected to be a stage ideal for ending in a mass sprint. However, the lack of cooperation between the main involved teams, or at least their failure to do so effectively earlier, helped the final breakaway to make it.

The large breakaway, which was reduced to 14 riders in the last kilometres, was not decided until the last kilometres. Max Pappenheim (Dido-GDC) attacked and only Matthias Moreng (Luft Wurberg) was able to follow his wheel. Moreng would soon left behind the Gehenna rider to win his first individual stage (the first cycling elite victory for the 27-year old rider). Johannes Rapp (Scholden-Gulcron) finished third, coming along a group of other six riders, and therefore consolidating his lead in the points classification.

Hira Sabanis (Baagh Cycling) was the new leader of the general classification, fifteen seconds ahead of Max Pappenheim.
