1599 Tour de Valland

Stage 1 | Flat stage - 188 km

Vallish sprinter Antoine Duchesnay (NDM) defeated Nylander Michael Ahlgren (Anzcell) and Derryl Benjaminson (Le Cycle Super) in the mass sprint to win the stage and become the first leader in the general classification in the 1599 Tour de Valland.

Stage 2 | Flat stage - 183 km

In the second stage, a breakaway of more than twenty riders surprised the peloton. Severyan Ilya Levchuk (MTS-Biassoni) surprised his rivals in the last kilometre to win the stage and take the red jersey.

Stage 3 | Flat stage - 224 km

The sprinters team worked hard to avoid any successful breakaway the following stage. Antoine Duchesnay (NDM) was again the fastest rider in the mass sprint, this time defeating Sequoian Martin de Gasparatte (Le Cycle Super) and Goldecian Adi Shulman (Ogo Cycling).

Stage 4 | Flat stage - 238 km

The fourth stage, the longest stage this Tour de Valland, proved more difficult to control and a successful breakaway was formed.

Mordvanian Gaston Martel (Iskra) defeated Lomarran Dominic Genosoto (NDM) in the final metres to win the stage, in one of the best start of the Tour for Vallish riders with three individual stages in the first four days.

Dominic Genosoto, who was also involved in the breakaway of the second stage, was the new leader of the general classification, seven seconds ahead of Vallish Jérémy Firmin
(Télecon) and thirty seconds ahead of Ceribian Sergo Gvarjaladze (Bagdati).

1598 Tour de Valland

Stage 1 | ITT - 14 km

The 1598 Tour de Valland started with a 14-km individual time-trial, the only one in all the Tour.

The stage was won by Biyran Stefan Hojnacki, a specialist against the clock, who became the first leader of the general classification this Tour.

Stage 2 | Flat stage - 166 km

Nylander sprinter Michael Ahlgren (Anzcell) won the second stage, after defeating young Lomarran sprinter Ferdinando Farso-Carino (NDM) and Goldecian Adi Shulman (Ogo) in the mass sprint.

Hojnacki could easily continue as leader in the general classification for a second day without incidences.

Stage 3 | Hilly stage - 160 km

The third stage, which included the 240-metres Mur de Ploy 3 kilometres before the finish, brought some minor differences in the general classification.

1597 Tour de Valland champion, Batavian Jaap Frisch (BataVelo) surprised with an attack, in which only a dozen of riders were able to follow him.

The stage was won by Florinthian Quentin Symonds (Dido-GDC) who overcame Frisch, who ended second, only in the final metres.

Symonds teammate, Florinthian August Thackeray was the new leader of the general classification.

Stage 4 | Hilly stage - 224 km

The fourth stage, the longest stage this Tour de Valland, also proved difficult to control by the peloton. However, not without incidences, the stage this time was decided in a mass sprint.

Nylander sprinter Derryl Benjaminson (Le Cycle Super) defeated his countryman Michael Ahlgren (Anzcell) and Mordvanian Miroslav Gradishar (Iskra) to win his first stage in the Tour de Valland.

High Chancellor Stark calls for mediation in Eskkyan-Carpathian Crisis
[Image: 58ae038001fe5815378b462c-960-640.jpg]

By: Alexander Knight
Date: 23 Dosa 1600

LADINFALL---- High Chancellor Wilhelm Stark today called for calm after tensions between Eskkya and Carpathia have flared up in the past few weeks due to the murder of a Carpathian tourist family in Eskkya. These murders were likely inspired by the comments of the former Home Minister of Eskkya, who called the Carpathians living in Eskkya along with other ethnic minorities as well as migrants "vermin". Many experts in Varenthia, however, believe that the movement of Eskkya to an authoritative state in the name of "progressiveness" or "equality" since its merger with Straethe is the likely cause for the attacks.

"This kind of inhumane action only comes after there has been a systemic move towards making the non-native peoples in a nation, well inhuman. Eskkya's Merger with Straethe completely tilted the political alignment in the new nation-state. The actions they take in the name of the environment or ensuring equality for all are by all means authoritative. The Ex-Home Minister's comments only solidified the underlying view in the nation: if you are not of the native majority and do not completely and absolutely conform to that majority you will be removed."

This statement from the Federation of Political Scientists, highlights the main grievances that the High Chancellor sought to address today. Eskkya itself has slipped from a prospering democracy to a nation who only seeks to upset its neighbors with continuous actions that seek to establish it as an official police state.

"Varenthia sees itself as mainly neutral party, we only want peace to continue throughout the continent. Both sides have their merits in this crisis, however this entire crisis has been fabricated out of proportion actions on both sides. Eskkya with its ever growing list of archaic laws that only seem to demean and isolate immigrants and minorities that has lead us to the initial incident. Meanwhile, Carpathia continues seemingly unproportional military responses to these kind of incidents.

This is the offer and I hope both nations at least take me up on the offer; Varenthia is willing to host a multilateral meeting between Carpathia and Eskkya int the hopes of establishing some sort of common understanding that we can use to defuse the situation. The Varenthian National Investigative Agency is willing as well as to send its own investigators to be a neutral source of information in Eskkya to provide a clear unfettered source of what happened. I personnally trust that there are independent investigators doing their job to the best of their ability, but in the name of diplomacy I believe the best course of action is to defuse the situation and affirm the rest of the world's worry.

These murders and the other incidents surrounding Eskkya has only and completely hurt its reputation, and it should not allow for this nation to be impacted by war or anything terrible. We can not allow for there to be more suffering on either side. There must be calm, deliberate, and transparent communication in the days to follow or else the worst will happen," spoke High Chancellor Stark at a press conference during a working trip to Ladinfall today.

The Vice Chancellory for Foreign Affairs has reportedly sent the offer to Carpathia and Eskkya through diplomatic channels, interested parties such as Lomarre were invited as observers to the meeting.

Campaign Plot
It'll start with election of new governments with the promise to do a referendum on joining the KEC. They would argue the economic benefits of joining such a large regional bloc where many of their trade partners are in. The opposition to it would be concerned about sovreignty over economics and regulations. There would be debates and following the debates a vote yes or no to joining with a simple majority leading to joining the KEC.

1597 Tour de Valland

Stage 1 | Flat stage - 191 km

Antoine Duchesnay (NDM) won the first stage, becoming the first rider to wear the red jersey in the 1597 Tour de Valland. The Vallish sprinter defeated Nylander Michael Ahlgren (Anzcell) and Florinthian Quentin Symonds (Dido-GDC).

Stage 2 | Hilly stage - 201 km

The second stage was not as calm for the peloton as the day before, but it had a very similar end: Duchesnay defeated Ahlgren again in a mass sprint in a rather reduced peloton. Oslanburgan Anders Mikkelsen (Scholden-Gulcron) and Svarnan Chanda Barigai (Baagh Cycling) were third and fourth, respectively.

Stage 3 | Flat stage - 155 km

Duchesnay was close to win his third stage win in a row but his countryman Christophe Villiers (Anzcell Cycling) stopped him by merely a few centimetres. Mordvanian sprinter Miroslav Gradishar (Iskra) and Florinthian Quentin Symonds (Dido-GDC) were third and fourth, respectively.

Stage 4 | Flat stage  - 164 km

For a third time, Antoine Duchesnay proved he was the fastest sprinter this Tour de Valland, defeating Michael Ahlgren (Anzcell) and Vallish Richard Deiss (Vançotte). With a more comfortable lead in the Points classification, the bonus seconds at the finish allowed Duchesnay to increase his lead in the general classification to fourteen seconds ahead of Ahlgren and twenty-one seconds ahead of Villiers.

1600 Dosa 20

Another wonderful flight. New Magawa Airways Flight 574 flew 38,000 feet in the air, carrying with it it's 324 passengers. The captain, Satoshi Nakazaki, a veteran with more than 10,000 hours of flight experience on various aircraft, was feeling confident as the plane approached the border between Carpathia and Eskkya. The co-pilot, Katsura Hashimoto, a newcomer with only about 2,000 hours on his belt, was using this as a valuable learning experience. A new hire to the company, his skill as a pilot was not in question, but it was standard airline policy for captains to be veterans. The flight engineer, a position common on Akitian airlines but rare among foreign airlines, was Jun Hasegawa, someone who was well respected in the company and known for his skill and reliability as a flight engineer. It seemed like the perfect environment for Katsura to gain more experience flying.

Satoshi had just signed off from Carpathian air-traffic control. Luckily things seemed to be going smoothly, tensions between Eskkya and Carpathia were at an all-time high but that didn't seem to affect Akitian flights for the moment. He turned to his co-pilot.

"If I handle the flying for now, do you want to check into Eskkyan air traffic control?" he asked.

"Sure." replied Katsura, before he started using the radio.

"Bealadaii Control, this is Magawa 574. We are bound for Rambouillet, we would like clearance to enter Eskkyan airspace, over."

Inside the cabin of the aircraft, 4 people watched the flight-map as the plane was about to enter Eskkyan airspace. They knew that it was soon the time to carry out their plan, meticulously planned over the past few months, with 4 recruits. They were Jiro Taniguchi, a member of the Imperial Akitian Army, Ryutaro Takahashi, a man who left the Imperial Akitian Navy a year ago, Saburo Kawasaki, a young chemist, and Ken Tachibana, an Eskkyan-Akitian dual citizen who had been shunned by his family for converting to a different religion. They had boarded this flight not with the goal of going to Eskkya, nay they didn't intend to step off of this flight at all. All of them had some circumstance that meant they would much rather disappear than that.

Hours earlier they had already prepared everything in their hand luggage for what was to come next, now they just made a final check. Each of them carried with them five 100ml containers of liquids. They were as shampoo, conditioner, toothpaste, skin lotion, and deodorant. Or at least, that's what it looked like. But that's not what was in those containers. Those containers each held 100ml of liquid sarin, something Shinkokyo had used before in terror attacks. This was a final check. All the containers seemed to be in accounted for.

Two hours before landing, they would act and do their holy act.

Dosa 13, 1600
Quvak, South Kolhar

It seemed like another normal day in the supermarket in Quvak. And for shoppers, that's no doubt what they thought it would be. Just another day living in the south, under a government they loathed but didn't know how to stop, but at least their daily lives were relatively livable. Food was a reasonable price and not scarce, water was clean, and things generally seemed okay in spite of the dictatorship that reigned over them.

But today was not in fact another day. For in fact it had been years since the companies granted a monopoly over the food market saw the sorts of profits that they used to see back when the country was unified. All of their assets in the north had been confiscated and redistributed to entrepreneurial northern Kolhari citizens. In the north, a healthy capitalistic free market had developed in the industry, with competition and a small amount of regulation from laws brought about from compromise between the Party of Honor and KPFP allowing for the development of many companies in the north. The south, however, simply had many private monopolies that were not happy at all. They lost their profits and wanted to recover it.

When rush-hour came to the supermarkets, people were shocked to see that prices of food had doubled and in some cases even tripled. The store employees were just as shocked, and the managers couldn't offer any explanations. Many assumed it was corporate greed, which was true but only partly. The other part of the story being that the fascist government recently ended subsidies to the industry, while maintaining the monopoly's. Without those subsidies, some of the company's would go under, unless they raised prices that is. Not that many people in the supermarkets realized this, they assumed it was another move by monopolies aimed at squeezing the populace for money, all in the name of profits (and patriotism of course).

They were not happy. It didn't take long for shouting matches between store managers and shoppers became a regular sight on that day. They continued well into the night, and would happen regularly.

Dosa 14, 1600

It was another day and crowds gathered at the supermarkets. More shouting matches between shoppers and managers, though it was only the second day it was already a regular sight. Some smaller managers again tried to explain that it was beyond their own control, that they had been told to do it by people in ranks higher than them. By now several groups had begun organizing themselves to collectively go to stores to try and pressure managers into lowering prices, but this got them nowhere. Finally, defeated by the end of the day, some of these groups met together and conferred.

It was around this time that news that the government ended subsidies to the food industries spread, and the people decided to make their opinion of the move known. The next day, they would gather in Quvak.

Dosa 15, 1600

It was a group of roughly 400. All of them a particular type of person. They were mothers and fathers, people who had families to take care if. Though the mothers far outnumbered the fathers, as women in Kolhar were traditionally in charge of protecting the house (a job that in Kolhar was considered equally important if not more important than the man's traditional role of leaving the house for jobs). They saw themselves as doing their motherly duty to protect their households from a threat, in this case the threat of not being able to afford food.

The government quickly took note of this and tried to contain the protests with police. Though they were successful in ending the demonstrations early, they did not realize this was simply the first domino to fall.

ABOUT US
VOLTek is Volta's leading technology company, responsible for creating many lines of products highly successful in Volta. This includes the Nebel line of smartphones, Sternbild line of desktop computers, Komet line of laptop computers, and the highly successful Ocelot operating system. We have continually striven for nothing short of perfection since 1523! Even after the the forms by Chancellor Ernst Krenz we have maintained out position as the top tech company in Volta. Our range of products are used far and wide within the boundaries of Volta, and our brand is beloved by many in the country. While most of our products are not intended for use outside of Volta, we hope that through international partnerships we will be able to bring Voltan ingenuity to consumers from around the globe!

BRIEF HISTORY
Our company was first established in 1523 as the Voltan State Technology Group (Voltaern Staatliche Technologie-Gruppe) as a publicly-owned enterprise. Our first product was the VT-01, the first personal computer ever produced in Volta, and the operating system VOS. This was followed by the VT-02. Incremental improvements in the VT line followed, but none really opened the floodgates to the Voltan personal computer industry. That was until in 1540, we developed the Volkscomputer. Though it wasn't as powerful as some of the computers developed outside of Volta, it was significantly cheaper and affordable to most Voltan families. It was our company's first hit product, and finally allowed the Voltan public access to the world of computing. The Volkscomputer came bundled with VOS version 3.8, but in 1543 we introduced VOS version 4.0, which for the first time added a graphical user interface with VOS.

It was 5 years later in 1548 that we would create the next two major leaps in Voltan computing. That year we introduced the Volkscomputer Mini, the first laptop computer ever to hit the markets in Volta. At the same time, we introduced the operating system Ocelot, which came bundled not only with the Volkscomputer Mini, but with all future iterations of the desktop Volkscomputer. Ocelot revolutionized Voltan computing. Complete with a desktop environment, it comes with everything one would need to recognize something that a modern operating system would have. Further development of it has made Ocelot what it is today.

After Ernst Krenz was elected chancellor, we renamed ourselves VOLTek, and continue to serve Volta to this day.

Ocelot
Ocelot is the operating system that is most commonly used in Volta. It was developed from VOS, which itself was developed from NSD (Nykoping Software Distribution). It is the operating system of choice for roughly 86% of all Voltans. It is supported by all major Voltan software developers, with the OS being regularly updated. Ocelot 15 is the newest iteration, with the newest version of the operating system being Ocelot 15.9.

  Operation Downfall
Posted by: Ceausescu - 07-07-2019, 05:49 AM - Forum: Siora - Replies (2)

The Allied States and their western neighbor, Eskkya, had a long history of tensions and close calls, neither nation willing to budge in a seemingly neverending political tug-of-war. Over the years, a pattern had emerged in the relations between the national-communist power of East Brigidna and the Breizighist governments of Strathae and later, Eskkya, bordering it. Again and again, the Breizighists would issue some sort of provocation, followed by negotiations and promises to "not do it again" after the Carpathian response caught the attention of the international community. And several years later, the Breizighists would issue another provocation as they relentlessly hounded the Allied States, for reasons which seemed more and more like they were motivated primarily by a deep, racist hatred against the Carpathian nation and its people.

Once again, the pattern repeated itself. But this time, something was different. This time, Carpathian blood was spilled, innocent blood, the blood of children. This time, Eskkya had gone too far. And this would be the last time the Breizighists would repeat this cycle, the last time they moved the goal post. Clearly, negotiations weren't working. Clearly, diplomacy had failed and now, it was time for more direct, firm and final action, to put a permanent end to the Eskkyan madness which was growing ever closer to a holocaust with each passing day. During the last incident, a line had been drawn and now, despite all warnings, it had been crossed. The time for talks, for endless rounds of pointless and ineffective negotiations, had ended.

Thus, the Allied States had convened in secret with their southern neighbor, the Kingdom of Lomarre, with which the Allied States shared a long history of friendship and deep ties. Secret missives had also been sent out to other nations such as the West Brigidnan Union, the Holy Lanlanian Empire, Nerysia and even Ashford and Keszaria and a proposal had been put together as Carpathia prepared itself not for another round of negotiations with Eskkya, but for war.

As the government of the Allied States readied itself to receive the delegates from its regional neighbors, the military readied itself for the rappidly approaching date when hostilities with Eskkya would commence. Behind the now-closed land border with Eskkya, battalions of troops and columns of armored vehicles were massing even as the Allied States Air Force deployed its fighters and its formidable anti-air defense system, the well-known "Garda" to close off its airspace from potential Eskkyan interference. Military trains brought forth massive railguns, long-range siege artillery platforms, to several staging grounds and special forces began preparing for covert operations as high command drafted up the plans for the invasion.

To the east, the 2nd and 5th Fleet Sections left port to link up with the 3rd, a full three-fifths of the Allied States' powerful navy now on its way south and then west, towards the Middangard Sea. The clock was now ticking towards zero and when it stopped, the sun would set for the final time upon the Breizighist regime in Eskkya.
