  Geoguessr Grand Prix
Posted by: Seperallis - 01-03-2018, 05:39 AM - Forum: The Gameroom - Replies (2)

Hey everyone. I had an idea; don't groan too loudly.

So over the past couple weeks, I had and have mulled over the idea of having an ongoing forum game/challenge that doesn't quite belong in the spam section, so I figure I'll put it here.

If anyone remembers from some odd years ago, Geoguessr was a bit if an internet fad that popped up with the help of some youtubers, as all fads from some odd years ago were want to do. Geoguessr is kind of a "Where's Waldo" (or Wally, if you're weird) of map games, except you're the Waldo: you get plopped into Google maps street view on a stretch of road somewhere in the world (or sometimes not on a road), and its up to you to pinpoint on a map where you think you are., with closer guesses garnering more points. Each guess is a round, with each round starting you in a different location, and each game consists of five rounds; at the end of the game, all your points are totaled, and a final score is given.

For the game, you can check here: http://geoguessr.com

It's pretty simple, but quite fun. Anyway, I approached Sal with an idea and she seemed interested, so I'll give it here.

What I want to do is a sort of ongoing Geoguessr challenge, a sort of Gran Prix. Each month I'll create/start and post one or two or so challenges and share that challenge here for people to participate in. People post their results or send them to me (being sure to keep the "solution" hidden that the game gives you after you finish), and I I keep track of them. At the end of every month, your best (or maybe even worst, you decide?) results are kept, tabulated and ranked.

The idea is that there's more than just recognition for first place: best score, worst score, the person dead in the middle of the pack (like bunco scoring, kinda), person to get closest to a "1337" score, and any other sorts of categories people come up with can be tracked and "rewarded" with a shout-out.

Anyway, let me know - preferably here - if you're interested. For your enjoyment (and to get used to the game), and to make sure this works as I hope it works. I've posted a link below to a sample warm-up challenge; good luck, and have fun:

Voice of Siora International Music Competition

1588 - Videjszeme

The Contest

Arena Jeekabpils, home to the city's largest footballing club FK Jeekabpils, sits in the arena district next to downtoen, just blocks from accomodations, shopping, restaurants, and the the historic Walled City.

Arena Jeekabpils will host nearly 30,000 excited visitors this Vintyr.

In the first phase of the competition, the Studio Phase, the selected artist or group will produce a song to be broadcast on the Sioran Broadcasting Alliance's partner stations and to be streamed via the official Voice of Siora website. Two weeks before the final event, this batch of entries will be open to public vote - but these performers will need to save their best for last, because unlike many competitions, this Preliminary Vote does not assure final victory, nor does it serve to eliminate the underdogs!

With five lucky nations taking an extra six points with them as the crowd-pleasing favorites, all of the artists will need to come up with a brand new song for the Live Phase of the competition. In this round, the musical representatives will go head-to-head with their international counterparts in a live showdown complete with audiovisuals, choreographed routines, and maybe even pyrotechnics to earn the final votes of each nation's representative committee.

Which nation will take home the gold? Which nation will come out as the dark horse? Which nations will thrill and wow the audience? One thing's for sure - Siora is in for a treat!

The Host

Young singing sensation Aneka Balode is ready to welcome the world to Videjszeme

Videjszeme was selected to host the eight Voice of Siora International Music Competition after taking gold in 1586 with the young singing sensation Aneka Balode, becoming the second- smallest host country to date behind Karjelinn. However, it doesn't take big populations and big talent to put on a big show! Videjszeme is a country full of the preserved history of central Brigidna, of verdant valley and snow-capped peaks. Arriving in the middle of winter, visitors are sure to enjoy the sparkling white vistas rolling beneath them from their hillside resorts and baths, or enjoying sleigh rides across the hundreds of frozen lakes and along the sparking valley streams. The 1588 competition will be held in Arena Jeekabpils near downtown Jeekabpils, with Aneka Balode ready to invite the world to experience her home.

Join us in Videjszeme, and let the most entertaining band win!

Lift up your voices, Siora!™

What did you give for Christmas?
Posted by: Seperallis - 12-25-2017, 11:26 PM - Forum: The Diner - Replies (1)

As the title says: what did you give for Christmas? Other holidays are welcome too, not just Christmas, as long as you gave something to someone. Reasons why are nice, but not needed.

Many years ago, I had a tradition of asking this question as a means of focusing on others at a time when many (especially kids) often think about what they were given. That’s about it.

  Hello there.

Hi, so my name is Allysohn and um, I have been asked recently if I was a slave. I would just like to clarify that I have not engaged in acts of forced servitude, but I like to work of my own accord. Anyways, with that out of the way, I'm pretty shy meeting new people and I've never really applied for any Role Play stuff, so I am hoping to make some friends and talk about nationy stuff. Good day Big Grin

Description:
Basically I am checking what use is acceptable of hemp, there is hempcrete products on the market along with hemp insulation , building materials, plastics, paper, jewellery and even some fuel uses. For alot of these it is argued that it could be a significant replacement/alternative to petrochemical based products and a step to a greener future.
