Eternity Minecraft - Server is Live!
#41
Also, I think if we're going to have quasi-factions, it only makes sense for it to be survival. There may be times we all go creative to go ham on building a spawn village or something like that. Idk... that depends on permission stuff and, ultimately, your whims o7

After being down for an hour, the server is now back up, with several new plugins: WorldBorder & WorldGuard (and its associated WorldEdit). I intended to get Essentials installed tonight too, but it's breaking the server with an error and is so large on its own anyway that configuration would take a long time, so I'm leaving that one alone for now. Troubleshooting something like that can happen another day.

WorldBorder will allow for the full generation of as much of the world as I want, as well as adding a customizable world border and filling out our sexy dynamic map

WorldGuard will allow protection from griefing by unscrupulous folks, should they find their way here, as well as accidental damage (such as setting a fire too close to a wooden palisade, Jam). Among other things, it also allows for protections to be made for certain areas, so finally we'll have a working, protected spawn. o/

Also, server whitelist has been updated.

I think it'd be cool to have dwarven NPCs. I kind of want to make my settlement a dwarven (dorfen?) one.

Big news, folks: mcMMO has been installed and configured! For information on this plugin (such as how to use it, and its relevant chat command), type /mcmmo in chat, and learn ye some!

The major change this brings is inclusion of skills, which will level up as you perform relevant actions, Elder Scrolls style. Higher level skills enables different actions to be performed with those skills - such as the Woodcutting skill eventually allowing to completely fell trees in one swing - but beware; carelessness and death can lead to you losing some of your skill experience! It also has a party system, allowing for teleportation between party members, sharing of items and experience, and more!

Further plugins are coming. I'll keep you posted. Happy digging! Smile

LWC has been installed and configured, allowing for protection/locking of doors, chests, hatches, etc. It is purely command-based, unlike certain other lock plugins, and so you don't have signs everywhere ruining your aesthetic. For a list of commands, type /lwc in chat. For help on how to use some commands, and more detailed descriptions, see this link.

I have also added a list of plugins that have player commands to the top post, as well as basic information on those plugins, to help you in using them.

The Dynamic Map should be fully configured now, the most recent changes allowing for players to set their own markers and labels on the map!

This is done via the use of specially-labeled signs:

dynmap web bukkit Wrote:To use these, the first line of the sign MUST be [dynmap]. After that, any non-blank line will be included in the label of the marker, except for lines formatted as icon:<icon-id> (which allows the marker to be set to use a specific icon - if not specified, the icon "sign" is used). If the marker is successfully created, the sign's text will erase the [dynmap] & icon: lines. If the sign is later deleted, the corresponding map marker is deleted.

As an example, I'll take the "Hadar" marker I placed on the map. I used a protected sign (see LWC above on how to protect blocks) and used the above instructions to create a map marker. When placing my sign, my input looked like this:

line 1 = [dynmap]
line 2 = icon:temple
line 3 = Hadar
line 4 =

This created a map marker labeled "Hadar", using the "temple" as an icon.

That's pretty much all there is to it! To see a list of icon IDs to use, you can type /dmarker icons in chat. If you want to know what all the icons look like you can look at the icon list here, which may be subject to change pending time/help to create/find our own custom icons.

You can find a more extensive list of stuff that's happened in role play here...if people bothered to add it.
