  The Inventor's Fair
Posted by: KawaiiPotato - 05-02-2017, 05:59 AM - Forum: Siora - Replies (2)

The grave bell resounds across the peak of Craeh Snil, echoes bouncing off the peaks as the sun rises over a new day. The attendant entered the chambers of Dr. Sulaif Darako to find him deceased, having passed peacefully in his sleep. The day is silent as the bell rings, no shop or business opens as the people gather in the streets to pay their respects to the technocrat.

The sound of the grand bell tolls, travelling across the range to be heard in all the settlements. The release ceremony is held at the Grand Mausoleum; grand white pillars of granite lined with white and black marble stand vigil on either side of the entrance halls as the deceased enter in procession, Dr. Sulaif the first to enter in the day and the first to be entombed in stone, his deeds carved into his obelisk as a benefactor of Nindaro, his advancements and achievements that he dedicated to his fellow man.

The death of Dr. Sulaif signified an end to an era and the beginning of a new one. Despite their loss and grief, in every person's heart stirred the excitement of what awaited with the next event to chose the new Technocrat. The event that could make or destroy a person's career, the event that pitted mind against mind to bring forth the greatest ideas and advancements. The Inventor's Fair.

OOC: Introduce your character and some backstory before their invention, the fair isnt in full swing yet so make some build up to it! Lines has full right to deny tech, if he denies it you can still make the invention, it'll just be a failure.

Age of the Mechwarrior is coming....
Posted by: DeSchaine - 05-01-2017, 08:40 PM - Forum: The Corner - Replies (5)

It started with the Japanese company Suidobashi Heavy Industry. They gave us the Kuratas.

A 4-wheel, 4 meter high, 30 joint "robot" that can be piloted directly from the cockpit or with an average smart phone. For a nice price starting at a cool million and going up, you can personalize your own version with anything from a claw to a shield to a dual BB minigun.

In response, and not to be out done, the American company MegaBots has given us the Mk III. This builds on two previous incarnations of their bot, specifically made to fight the Kuratas and be the beginning of a new sport: true mech arena battles.

While not commercially available yet, the 12 ton, 430 hp MB Mk III also has a variety of weapons, from rocket packs and bowling ball cannons to dual chopping knives (just in case you come across a really large carrot). This dual piloted monster moves about on a set of tracks inspired by the Howe & Howe Tech Ripsaw tank.

And today comes word of a THIRD entrant into the world of large robot fighting. From the Chinese company GREATMETAL comes the Monkey King!

[Image: 3FB9FD9C00000578-0-image-a-16_1493656714712.jpg]

Monkey King is a single pilot, 4 ton beast that can fight on all four legs as well as two. The official release video doesn't let slip much more than that, unless you can read Chinese.

FASA is seeming to be somewhat prophetic. It's only a matter of time before we see Fafnir and Mad Cats (or Timberwolf if you're a Clanner) in the open country, and Urbanmechs and Shadow Cats in the city streets.

Add in the US Army TALOS project, and it wont be long until we have Longinus battle armor....

1566, the Nylander Open has been chronologically the fourth and final tennis major comprising the Grand Slam each year. It is held annually, on the month of Elva. Since 1570, the tournament has been played on acrylic hard courts at the Johannes Fronssen Tennis Center in New Fenridge, Nyland.

Current champions:

  • Men's Singles: Emil Gregersen (Oslanburg)
  • Women's Singles: Bothilde Degn (Oslanburg)

Summary of the first rounds

1583 Florinthus Open started with Hylis Open champion Vannevar Cregger leaving the tournament in his first match in Florinthus, after being defeated by Severyan Sasha Reznov who showed his superiority in the last two sets ( 6-1, 6-7, 0-6 and 2-6). Other expected contenders to the title, such as Sainamese Sakamoto Keitaro, Keszarian Zsigmond Pásztor, Gehennan Hermann Manninger, followed the same fate.

In the next round, surprised continued with Hylian Frederick Wahlberg, 1579 and 1580 Florinthian Open winner Reinis Araafs, Hylian Open champion Nehemiah Aicken said goodbye before than expected against minor rivals. But it was the defeat of 1583 champion Oslanburgan Emil Gregersen against Lusby & Corwyn champion Cristophe Penzance in three sets (2-6, 2-6, 3-6).

In Women’s Singles, the runners-up of the previous Grand Slams this season, Kyrzbekistan Tansilu Zophakuz and East Kaljuran Eliisabet Mägi were not able to go beyond the first round. However, the most unexpected match was the one between the three-time champion Oslanburgan Bothilde Degn and Hylian Elma Lundquist, which was surprisingly won by the latter in two sets (2-6 and 3-6). The other Oslanburgan favourite, Lissi Rasmussen, also failed to qualify to the Round of 16. Surprises continue, as Hylis Open champion Felice Lamb was defeated by A’Sirian Donya Lahijani in three sets (6-3, 5-7, 5-7), disappointing the local fans.

A Three Kingdoms game that's not by Koei!
Posted by: Seperallis - 04-28-2017, 09:20 PM - Forum: The Gameroom - Replies (8)

*Hype train a-rollin' into the station*

http://store.steampowered.com/app/577230...t_Warlord/

So I found this gem while I was perusing the page for Three Kingdoms Maker (which I am wanting for...reasons), and I am actually pretty hype about it. By the screenshots (and someone in the discussion forums had a similar response), the game looks like Koei's Romance of the Three Kingdoms series, using similar gameplay from back when the series was good. While I like the battle system for RTK11 where things happen on the world map, the battles in this game take place on separate battle maps, allowing for more realistic field battles, or detailed city sieges with multiple layers of defenses.

The game's being developed by a Chinese indie team who are self-professed Three Kingdoms nerds, and it looks like they've put a lot of effort into making sure it's chock full of authentic historical detail. As a matter of fact, they're working on an English translation atm, whICH IS MORE EFFORT THAT KOEI CAN BE FUCKED TO GIve almost half their games, so good on them.

Game is coming out on 25 May, reportedly for $10, which is a damn good deal if it's anything similar to the RTK series. I might very well get it on launch day.

1583 Hylis Open

The Sainamese Open is a major tennis tournament held annually over late Quartyr and early Fein in Rasswitt, Hylis Federation. First held in 1502, the tournament is chronologically the second of the four Grand Slam tennis events of the year. It is player on clay surfaces since 1527.

Current champions:

  • Men's Singles: Bozidar Kriznek (Mordvania)
  • Women's Singles: Elma Lundquist (Hylis Federation)

Summary of the first rounds

1583 Hylis Open: Bozidar Kriznek’s defense of the 1582 was not long, as he was defeated in the early rounds by Kaljuran Olev Salumäe with a clear 7-6, 0-6, 2-6. Other main contender which said goodbye in those early matches were 1581 winner Vannevar Cregger, three-time GS champion Galeaen Viktor Kallum, 1582 Florinthian Open winner Emil Gregersen, Gehennan Otto Sticker and 1579 runner-up Kyrzbekistani Amerhan Irekur.

There were a few surprises in Women’s Singles as well, including the defeat of Tansilu Zophakuz, who had reached the final in the Sainam Open only a few months ago; 1578 champion Lissi Rasmussen who was defeated by the 17-year old Kyrzbekistani Aygöl Akkaya; 1582 runner-up Sasha Zemitsayeva; 1581 runner-up Yasmin Mazandarani, who was defeated by another Kyrzbekistani player, Leniza Ildukuz; and Mordvanian Miroslava Pahor, who was defeated by Jandrean Lucy Wallace.

In the next round, the only surprise in Women’s Singles was the defeat of Oslanburgan Bothilde Degn by Silvia Orozco from Castleon in a balanced match (6-4, 4-6, 4-6). In Men’s Singles, however, surprised continued with the defeat of Frederick Wahlberg against the unknown Salvator Jacobi from the exotic Lusby & Corwyn in four sets; Lomarren Giuseppe Cherubini victory against Viktor Roziitis, one of the main contenders for the trophy; and 1579 champion Karjelinnin Linus Kokkonen defeat against Jandrean Steven Claydon in three sets (3-6, 7-5, 4-6).
