A coup for stability?

It was 10:00 in the morning. The military had discussed the plans over the last few months, chattering in secret. Plotting , plotting to remove the Nat Coms. Why? the anti-corruption purge, did something need to be done? Sure, but the course of action, the investigations , the death penalty it was a risk. How long until the military were the target. How long until they faced the death penalty for previous crimes. They just no longer trusted the government but that would not be what this coup was officially about. The military coup was about security, stability, ending the senseless war in Sūrya bhūmi rā'ijiṅga, they were tired the people were tired. These were the official reasons.

In the centre of Nadi Janksana the parliament were meeting as usual, the cabinet were in discussion with the president and vice president included. The work was going on but not for much longer. Suddenly around the country in the capital, in Mārśa śahara(मार्श शहर, Marsh City),Dō nadiyōṁ kē siṭī(दो नदियों के सिटी, City of Two Rivers),Sā'uthapōrṭa śaharai ,Gārḍana Gānva, Mōtī Kē Siṭī,Paṭhāra Agōrā,Bachchan siṭī,Jōya kē siṭī,Kilē Kē śahara the military hit the streets in the the biggest operation ever, the military in Sūrya bhūmi rā'ijiṅga were ordered by commanders to withdraw, they were to move to help their colleagues in Svarna Surya or face death for desertion. The military stormed the parliament , stormed the presidential palace and all ministry buildings. Finally they immediately took over all media stations. The president was forced at gun point to surrender authority in front of the camera.President Amil Vyas said the pre-written statement "Today my fellow Svarnans I admit my treachery to my country, I admit my parties guilt in betraying the values of Svarna. I admit the political purge conducted by my party. I will face the consequences for my actions but I today surrender any authority of parliament or my cabinet to the Military Stability Council. I urge all Svarnans to stay at home, let the military do their job protecting all Svarnans and stabilizing our great country. I urge all with weapons to keep them away and not to fight , any deaths are needless. The military mean for nothing more than a peaceful transition.

With this the military government announced the takeover, martial law for 1 week with possibility of extension and the restricting of intercity travel by public transport as well as blocking of major motorways to allow for military manouvres to organise security. By this point the police were ordered on to the streets to uphold the martial law. The move came as a shock. No one had expected this , but it clearly had been organised. Now the military council was ready to announce the next moves including closure of all airports except for essential goods and arrest of corrupt parliamentarians in cabinet and government with the possibility of serving in the future if they promise to support the transition process.

The next 4 weeks the military tightened control over government, the police and security forces. Airports after having been shut down for 1 week were reopened on a limited basis.Anyone fighting the military was arrested for treason to be prosecuted later in the year. National-Communist Party(Raashtreey-Kamyunist Paartee),Social Federal Party and members of any other parties who rejected the military government coup were to be put in jail and potentially executed. The strengthening of power was solidified. A new "Federal Media Commission" appointed by the military would regulate and approve all media from now on with a new framework. Finally constitutional changes were announced . The new bill of rights was announced for citizens:7
1:All citizens shall have the right to free speech except if there is a threat to national security or public order
2:All citizens have the right to freedom of assembly except if there is a threat to national security or public order
3:All citizens have the right to protest except if there is a threat to national security or public order
4:All media has the the right to freedom of speech except if there is a threat to national security or public order
5:All citizens have the right to freedom of religion and membership of any legal religion except if there is a threat to national security or public order
6:All citizens have the righ to join any legally recognized union
7:All citizens have the right to a fair trial under law
8:All citizens have the right to be paid for their labour except when working as part of a state punishment , workfare scheme or repaying debt

Finally a new system was devised with three parties competing for power all supporting the military and a new parliament structure being announced:

General Airavata Singh released a statement at a press conference and through state media: "Today my fellow Svarnans and friends We today announce a new day of moderate policies, of true liberty , freedom and representation and of most importantly stability. We are to set up a new type of government . We will have trade unions, businessmen , soldiers and civillians represented by the same amount of representatives 200 for a National Assembly of 800. You will all have the freedom to vote for the party or candidates of your choice. You will also all be guaranteed the same rights as before under the constitution as long as national security or public order is not at stake. We as a result are bringing in a new policy , freedom of speech zones where protests are to be held so you can protest safely. We promise our new government is to provide you safety and security. Furthermore we renounce some policies , from today there will be no sanctions on Akitsu including export or import restrictions. In fact they will be treated the same as all others on our new import schedule tarriff.10% import tax. We will bei introducing a import tarriff schedule policy ranging from 0% to 45% in 5% increments to give the government flexibility once again embedded in the constitution. We will be holding elections on the 8th of Zechyr every 5 years. This is a new dawn of stability, democracy and freedom for Svarna Surya. Thank you."

Vijay Tata and Ananth Vijay Mahindra were released as a result of the judges throwing out charges against them with their companies being given back to them.

Meanwhile, Soyabarian troops had dug in leaving a couple of meters between them and the Svarna-Zealmarkian border to have some kind of DMZ. As the war was still going on but the Soya's did not have the manpower to invade Svarna now that it was weakened by a coup.
