Report

Description:
The Vestor Licit People's Mandate uses a wide variety of airdropped stratagems in combat situations to augment ground force fighting capacity, in both offensive and defensive roles. The newest exciting development in this field is the use of self-righting and self-assembling structures, capable of surviving the drop from the standard cruising altitude of a VA600 Kelyor HLV or VA460 Katura. Upon descent, the device is slowed and stabilised by quick-burn disposable rocket motors or standard synthetic parachute. [1]

The most commonly requested and deployed Autofortification is the Rapid Razor-Wire Protocol. At the discretion of a CT9 squad leader, a soldier may place a request to the National Tactical Command Mobile Asset Deployment Department via the use of a mobile Telex system. The local air deployment brigade will then release the requested protocol, from a height where it can be guided down with the intense precision and accuracy required. The majority of the protocols do not arrest the downward velocity of the system entirely, as they employ automated anchoring systems to secure the terrain.

In the case of the Rapid Razor Protocol, the device will unfold into a long strip (depending on type this can be 10m, 20m, 50m, and 100m) whereupon the spools of Grade 7 Razor Wire will lengthen upon the base and produce a barrier hazardous to infantry health. Other Protocols include, but are not limited too, Mobile Resupply (both kinds), VOX Drop, Automated Mass Deservicing, and many more.

The Licit Chiri Mandate must protest the inclusion of this technology by the international community. The Vestor Licit People's Mandate Ranger Corps uses Rapid Razor Protocols and Automated Mass Deservicing Protocols disproportionately on Chiri citizens, and for infractions that do not usually warrant them. This citizen terror campaign is itself worthy of mass deservicing of its Vestor architects.

This is primarily an OOC forum for the purpose of discussing the technical details and determining whether or not a technology or item is reasonable for use in-game. It does not take into consideration the morals or ethnics of doing so. Please keep that in mind.

That aside, this is just parachuting stuff in, right? These forums are more for requesting things that don't exist IRL, as those may be controversial and consequently require discussion and coordinate.

Esteemed technologist Ayzek, thank you for your input. This concept can indeed be simplified to a level of simple parachute systems, but also relies upon advanced self-positioning and self-assembling equipment to provide the soldiers of the Vestor Licit People's Mandate with flexible tactical options.

Mm...the deployment of defenses via parachute. What kinda structures are we talking about here?

Deploying mines via cluster munitions is fine--that's already a thing in RL. And there are ways to quickly deploy barbed wire, likely with a vehicle, though if you really wanna attach a rocket to that, that's technically possible. But beyond that...while it's technically possible to develop software and guidance equipment to set down barriers (sandbags, concrete) or other equipment (tents, portapotties), it sounds like it'd be more expensive and time-consuming than really worth.

You'd first need to deploy radar equipment to get a digital topography map, then coordinate with troops on site and the guy working the software (who could also be on site, I suppose), and then actually deploy the deployment system. Which'd also take some time. And while guidance/course correction of the equipment as it descends can be handled by computers, there'd still be a lot of interference from the air currents and such, which'd make dropping things more than a little unpredictable.

Esteemed technologist Ayzek, thank you for your input. Vestor deployments of autofortifications against lawful Chiri assemblies often use existing topographical data and local agents to their advantage. The National Tactical Committee has not heard of plans to deploy these outside MANINTERN borders, where your described difficulties may exist. In CT1/MT1 doctrine these remain a defensive stratagem.

The unclassified segment of the list of autofortifications is as follows:
  • 5m Tank Traps (Cord-Attached Segments)
  • 10m Tank Traps (Cord-Attached Segments)
  • 10m Rapid Razor (Rigid)
  • 20m Tank Traps (Cord-Attached Segments)
  • 20m Rapid Razor (Rigid)
  • 50m Rapid Razor (Free-Rotating Segments)
  • 100m Rapid Razor (Free-Rotating Segments)
  • Automated Mass Deservicing, Neutron Radiation
  • Automated Mass Deservicing, Cluster Munition
  • Mobile Resupply, Various
  • Vehicle Drop, FC200 Coyote APC
  • Vehicle Drop, FVC200 Jackal IFV
  • VOX Drop, 2km Range
  • VOX Drop, 10km Range

A little clarity is needed here. As in, wtf is a VOX, and describe in detail the tank traps and "Automated Mass Deservicing" things, whatever tf they are.

Esteemed technologist DeSchaine, thank you for your input.

VOX, short for VOX Operations Exchange, is the method by which efficient citizen allocation occurs in the Mandate. National VOX administrators receive orders from CT1/MT1 leadership and distribute these orders into areas of responsibility by citizen occupation and tier, then send them to regional VOX administrators. Regional VOX administrators do the same and send them to local VOX dispatchers, who offer detailed, timely messages to individual citizens, citizen occupation groups, citizen tier groups, or area broadcasts. This system, not unlike emergency management systems in robber-baron democracies, allows for citizens to respond to emergencies and national goal shifts in record time, as well as hear the latest information and news.

Autodeployed Cord-Attached Tank Traps are airdropped anti-tank caltrops designed to slow enemy armor penetration of Mandate land by quickly countering unexpected armor movement and funneling enemy armor into anti-tank kill zones. They function identically to robber-baron caltrops, but are chained together to allow a stretch of them to be deployed from one aircraft.

Automated Mass Deservicing is a deservicing system employed when an entire town, city block, or other large area has been determined to contain only dangerous negatively compliant citizens, such as during a riot incited by robber-baron democracies. The Neutron submunition emits large amounts of neutron radiation on detonation, deservicing citizens quickly and painlessly while keeping infrastructure intact. The Cluster submunition deploys fragmentation bomblets to secure the area when negatively compliant citizens have also seized vehicles or weaponry which must be cleansed of their associative negative compliance by destruction.

Ummm.....

Lines will correct me if I'm wrong, but I think that Neutron type weapons are not allowed considering they require the use of a low yield thermonuclear weapons to be effective.

Secondly, I see an issue with air deployed heavy objects being dropped from aircraft chained together. If you are dropping it as a clump to be spread out later, that could work, but there is high potential for a crash as each item falls off the ramp and creates downward pressure by dragging the chain off the edge of the ramp, forcing multiple, very sudden, changes in aircraft pitch that I'm not sure can be corrected in a way to keep the aircraft under control.

Lastly, from the still annoyingly vague description you gave, I'm going to assume that the VOX drops you speak of are some sort of radio or wireless signal transceivers, possibly with an integral power source and extendable antenna? If so, those should be fine.

Esteemed technologist DeSchaine, thank you for your input! Mandate National Laboratories citizen scientists have become extremely excited at the presentation of your theory on the generation of neutron detonations via low yield thermonuclear weapons. Current Neutron submunitions merely use inefficient neutron generators which produce subpar results such as Delayed Deservicing Sickness. Citizen scientists may contact you later regarding these and other beneficial applications of thermonuclear weapons research.

Esteemed technologist DeSchaine, thank you for your input. For heavier items, Vestor Licit People's Mandate Armed Forces airdrop pilots utilize a variation of the extraction airdrop technique where the cargo aircraft moves slow and low over the target area. An extracting parachute is first deployed, which pulls the first cargo sled out of the aircraft. A cord attached between cargo sleds pulls each sled out in turn until no cargo remains. In the case of the Rapid Razor autofortification, the cord is the self-deploying concertina wire itself. Airframe losses are not unheard of, but rest assured this is entirely the fault of pilot incompetence.

Esteemed technologist DeSchaine, thank you for your input. You have correctly described the functioning of the VOX system.
