First Conference for West Brigidnan Cooperation
#1
THE DENIL CONFERENCE FOR WEST BRIGIDNAN COOPERATION
Also known as the Friendship Conference

The First Conference for West Brigidnan Cooperation is an event created by the Florinthian government to create a space in which nations from the West Brigidnan sphere can discuss topics pertinent to them, as well as allow for dialogue on mutual cooperation. The Federation believes there is much untapped potential within the region that is only waiting to be unleashed, if the various nations could only get along better. By hosting and planning this event, the Federation hopes that all who attend might begin to see eye-to-eye and that, in time, the region might be able to cooperate on important matters.

The conference itself is a two-week event to take place during the month of Marth in 1580. The invited nations are expected to, should they decide to attend, send a delegation of important people, be they government officials or simply influential individuals. The first conference does not have any major topics to discuss, but is instead simply a forum for assembled delegations to meet and discuss topics pertinent to them. The purpose of this is to ensure that all assembled nations are on the same page and can know where each other stand on topics such as foreign affairs, immigration, economic development, and many others.

The invited nations to this event are as follows:

Aurentine
Castleon
Dyrheim
East Kaljurand
Eskkya
Florinthus
Galeae
Gehenna
Gein Lochland
Holy Lanlanian Empire
Kave
Kyrland
Laurentian Kingdom
Lomarre
Mordvania
Nerysia
Oslanburg
Ostland
Paradesh
Strathae
Valland
Vienland
West Kaljurand

The Federal Assembly

"Introducing the arrivals from the Third Republic of Aurentine... Foreign Affairs Minister... -"

Graham Torrence watched as the dignitaries arrived from the various nations. As each entered, they were announced, not unlike royals at some sort of gala. The Federal Assembly had been prepared for the event, and the conference was taking place in the main hall. It was a very large room, with plenty of space for individuals to mill about.

Security was of the utmost importance, which is where Torrence came in. He was chief of security for the Assembly, and so it was his job to ensure everything ran smoothly. At the moment, he was on the second floor, overlooking the hall from a balcony. He had men everywhere in the building on the lookout for any funny business. With all the dignitaries about, it was important to ensure not only that they were safe, but that they felt safe.

The event itself was very odd. It had been planned several years prior, with the intention of "promoting cooperation" -- whatever that meant. Brigidna had always been an odd mesh of peoples, cultures, and priorities. Uniting these would be difficult, and would take decades of concerted effort. This conference was intended to be the first step. By simply gathering the various peoples together, efforts could begin to bridge gaps, however wide they may be. This was the intention of the Federation in hosting this event. Gather everyone under one roof and get them talking, about anything.

Though, that was hardly Torrence's concern. He was only looking to make sure everyone was safe.

It was with little fanfare that the Eastern Kaljuran delegation arrived in the conference halls in Denil. Following the cessation of hostilities with the West, the Easterners had been able to make little time for fanciness. It was a stark contrast to the way the Western delegation was handling itself. While the Easterners were dressed in normal diplomatic garb, a suit and tie, the Western delegation wore full military dress uniforms of dark black littered with medals and ribbons. The Easterners did not want to draw any unwanted attention to themselves whereas the West did. Or so it seemed to the casual observer.

The lead diplomat assigned to represent the Kaljuran Republic had been a hero during the near decade long civil war. Jaak Võsu had earned a reputation for himself leading his company in defense of several small villages on the front line in the south. Before the war though, he had been Deputy Director of Foreign Affairs. It was because of this appointment, and his work during the war, that he had already had the unfortunate privilege of knowing the man who "sat across the aisle" from him. The leader of the Western delegation was Colonel Johannes Orav commanding officer of the Koristaja Battalion, one of the government's execution units. Jaak had had one too many a run in with the Colonel's work, but he put on a steely face and ushered the rest of his delegation to their area. Jaak was confident that he would be able to deal with Orav but he knew that whatever may happen, Orav would be gunning for him.

It was just hours of flights on commercial airlines to Florinthus for the frienship conference. The campaigns suspended as the three main parties decided to send their respective leaders. High King Daniel Gwenegg-Di-Haggia and Riccardo Gwenegg-Di-Haggia were on the Aer Strathae to Florinthus. The flight landed at the main airport before the King and Riccardo went in the limo to the florinthus assembly hall. They arrived just over 1.5 hours later. They were excited to meet the other heads of state and government. They desperately hoped to show that Strathae was a friendly nation , open to all despite the issues in politics and the events of recent.

Exclamation

As the Lomarren delegation entered, led by the Count of Petra Lucio di Petra-Ciracusa, the anthem of the Kingdom of Lomarre would play as the small delegation of seven entered the conference. The blasting of the anthem would be a clear signal to the other nations present that Lomarre, in all its glory and splendor, did infact come to the conference. To the uninformed pleb, the blasting of the anthem seems a bit over the top; Yet to a well traveled diplomat, it is per custom of the Kingdom of Lomarre.

The Count hails from the northern provinco/county of Petra, located off the mainland of Lomarre, in what is the Trinitas Viceroyalty. Although not born in Lomarre, he is the head of the the third oldest family to originate from Lomarre's first era, the Ciracusans. The first two being the Ceritas, and Andrastia families who are fully extinct.

The man had a gruff voice as he spoke, much more clearly to his advisor and close friend Teodor, "It would seem we are not the first to arrive. Regardless, be sure to tell the Florinthians that the warm welcome is quite nice. I must make sure I look presentable in the restroom. I'll return in haste,"

The various delegations had all arrived, in one way or another.  Anna Keyes, a junior diplomat in Florinthian Foreign Affairs -- essentially a glorified intern -- was pleased that her efforts had positive results. She had been part of the planning for the event, unable to make any key decisions but still a part, and attendance was great - much better than expected, in fact.

The intent of this event was to create a new avenue for dialogue within the region. For so long the region remained divisive based on ideological, religious, or political reasons. It was time to end that, and establish open communication among the states. This event was one of the largest gatherings of diplomats in history, and Denil was abuzz for months prior. Now that they were all here, the main hall of the Federal Assembly was a glorious sight.

Anna was now basking in the event. She tried to identify different diplomats by their nation without looking at their nametag. She wasn't terribly good at it, but it was a fun way to pass the time. She had caught a Kyrish boy, clearly an intern like herself, eyeing her and responded with a coy shrug. He was good looking, but she wasn't there to shack up. What would her bosses think?
