PBC News is based in Denil, Florinthus, but has hubs across the globe in many nations. PBC is a multi-ethnic organization with employees of all creeds and races that share a desire to spread the truth. PBC and its affiliates are funded in part by donations from the Florinthian people, as well as the Florinthian government, in order to provide an unbiased and independent news source, from a Florinthian perspective.

Fontaine, a long-standing icon for the National Labour Party, just three weeks before his sudden death

Guy Fontaine, the leader of the National Labour Party and a major player in the Federal Assembly was found dead yesterday in his Denil home after was can only be described as a sudden death by natural causes.

A heart attack is the verdict, after his body was examined, and foul play has not been considered, though there was an investigation. Fontaine was found early last friday after presumably dying the previous evening. His housekeeper found him on her way into the home and immediately called the authorities upon finding the body.

Fontaine was a very private man and, being widowed, lived alone, so when he was struck by the heart attack and collapsed, he was unable to reach a phone in time to call for help. Investigators noted signs of a struggle in his last moments, including a broken vase and overturned table. Police Chief Lloyd Darwin made a statement days after the announcement that the police were doing their due diligence, but there was not any evidence of any kind of foul play.

Fontaine will be remembered as an agent of change within the federation. At one time many believed he would be the next prime minister, before current PM Ben Blanckenship won the seat in the 1574 elections. Fontaine was a key figure in the immigration act that allowed so many refugees to flood into the nation, as well as being a notable proponent for education and tax reform. Fontaine will be remembered by his three children, Arnold, Victoria, and Lewis, all of which are currently adults. His brother, Gerald, is a district judge in Tarleton, where the Fontaine family hails from.

The Federal Assembly, where the "Friendship Conference" is to be held

Florinthus will soon be the host of one of the first Conferences on West Brigidnan Cooperation, the government announced this morning.

The conference, colloquially dubbed the "friendship conference" by those in the foreign affairs department, is intended to allow the governments of west Brigidna to meet and discuss the present state of the region and how each nation can better meet their own needs through cooperation. The exact list of attendees is unannounced at the moment, but is expected to be revealed shortly.

The conference represents "our best and brightest hope for this wonderful subcontinent" according to Prime Minister Ben Blanckenship. "We see cooperation as our best means for defending our interests, as well as the interests of our neighbors. While nothing concrete will be on the table, the very act of airing interests will do wonders for relations.

The meeting is presently scheduled for Q1 of 1580, and the capital is abuzz with interest as to who will be arriving from the various west Brigidnan states.

Nyland will host the 1590 SIFA World Cup, the first to be in the nation

The SIFA executive council has voted, and Nyland shall be the host of the 1590 SIFA World Cup Centennial after defeating bids from Severyane, Carpathia & Moldova, and Goldecia.

The decision was made after three rounds of voting, the first two eliminating Goldecia than Carpathia & Moldova. The Nyland bid was selected as it seemed the "most strong" according to one executive member. Another key factor was time, as it was seen that Nyland had "waited long enough" for a tournament.

The Goldecians will surely be disheartened after the most recent setback in their efforts to host a world cup, having bid for the last several tournaments only to fall short time and time again. They have not ruled out another bid, though one begins to wonder whether or not the cup will ever come to Goldecia. It hasn't been in Kvaenna since World Cup Taeunas in 1566.

This is a historical landmark for several reasons. The 1590 rendition is the 100th Anniversary of the first cup. It's the first time the event has ever been hosted in Nyland, who won in 1562. It is also the first time the cup has waited more than twelve years to return to Brigidna, having never missed Brigidna for more than two consecutive tournaments. Florinthus-Oslanburg 1578 was the previous tournament to be in Brigidna, and another won't be in the continent until at least 1594.

SIFA President Vilmar Knutsen has announced that SIFA will maintain its promise to restart the "bid rotation" following the centennial, so all federations, including Skathia, will be able to bid for the 1594 rendition of the tournament.

Leftist Leader Lance Krejewski Criticizes Monroe Republic for "Blatant Warmongering"

Lance Krejewski, Party Chair for the Party of the Left and Assemblyperson for Balzary criticized the so-called Monroe Republic for its "insistence on war-mongering."

"They thrust out their chest from under the Carpathian skirt but can't stand well enough on their own. It's easy to be a war-monger when you don't have to deal with the consequences." Krejewski, who is a member of the council for Brigidnan Affairs within the Federal Assembly has been known to have a negative opinion over the Allied States, who he considers an embarrassment to the ideals of socialism.

This represents an increased interest in the Eastern Brigidnan sphere from the Florinthian government. It is considered a region of interest, considering the various cultural and ethnic tensions. The Florinthian government's interest in the region is likely academic however, for the time being.

There was a time when the government toyed with more increased involvement more than a decade ago, when the splinter state Monroe Republic was first separated from Ashford. The Florinthian government refused to recognize the new state and affirmed its nominal support of Ashford, but nothing ever came of it. Now, much later, the region is still unstable. The splinter republic is only in existence because Carpathian interests keep it as such.

Still, it is no secret that the Florinthian government, or at least the current administration, has no interest in the Allied States. What would normally be their biggest ally, the Left, has ideological differences that make interests muddled.

Ashendale, the Capital of the Kingdom of Ashford, where Prime Minister Ben Blanckenship spent his time during the state visit

Amidst growing tensions in the region, Prime Minister Ben Blanckenship met with the Ashfordian government during a state visit to the country to express "the goodwill of the Florinthian people" as well as their intention to ensure Ashford remains independent.

This comes weeks after the Monroe territory unveiled new military technology and made several efforts at war posturing. The Allied States were seen to egg on the process, drawing looks from the rest of the region. The Florinthian state visit is seen to solidify Florinthian interests in the region starting with Ashford.

Blanckenship was candid in his reflections. "Florinthus is devoted to a peaceful Brigidna, but we will not tolerate a war-monger, and the Monroe territory has proven its interest in doing so. We will stand on the right side of history." Many other nations have joined in the chorus of support for the small south-Brigidnan kingdom, including the Holy Lanlanian Empire.

Interim Chancellor Gregor Skjallmaan, who was recently sworn in as Chancellor of Galeae following the death of Alfred Gusenbaeur

Chancellor Alfred Gusenbaeur, who has been chancellor for nearly 11 years following the death of predecessor Sabastien Lorenz, died in his home this past evening. Vice-Chancellor Gregor Skjallmaan has taken the position for the next year until elections are held again.

This comes at a very pivotal time as, for the first time in nearly two decades, opening polls are showing the Nationalist Union of Galeae to not retain its majority in the Alumary. This has only been made worse by the death of Gusenbaeur, as many see Skjallmaan as a relatively weak leader. The sharks are circling and several other parties are campaigning heavily, jockeying for position as chaos reigns over the now headless Nationalist Union.

In particular the Galeaen Party for Liberty has found a holding, as well as the Galeaen Justice Party, two moderate parties, the former more liberal and the latter more conservative. They have a hold of the youth of Galeae who have become disillusioned with Gusenbaeurs age. The Vienland Conflict is seen as ancient history and reminiscent of an age of decadence and greed in Galeae. The slowdown of the economy doesn't help either.

For now, the nation mourns, but with the new year eyes will turn towards a pivotal election that may mark a new chapter in Galeaen history.

Florinthus has been knocked out of the World Cup in Angiris after failing to win their first two matches in the group stage -- failing even to score a goal. This is considered by many to be the worst Florinthian team fielded at a World Cup in its history, and plenty of blame has gone all around.

Manager Owen Smitley, who was appointed following the resignation of Oslanburgan Alf Olhouser has taken the brunt of the criticism. His defensive-style tactics did not match well with the Florinthian talent pool, whose pace encourage a more free-flowing attack. His emphasis on role players as well put the squad in a tough position when a few injuries piled up. Main striker Frank Lewand fell to a twisted ankle in pre-tournament friendlies, and center defender Paul Lawrence went down in the first match against Arrenland.

The FA has not yet commented officially on the results, and many expect, as per custom, they will wait until the tournament is finished. There are rumors that Smitley may be retained, however, as he was given eight years to produce results and improvement from his crop of youngsters.

For now, the Manager said they were on to Sainam, their opponent in their final match. "We want to provide our fans with something to enjoy, even if our overall performance has left much to be desired" Smitley said. Only time will tell if he succeeds in that respect.

Blanckenship spoke before the Assembly today on the importance of diversity and its role in Florinthus

As Strathae comes under fire for seemingly prejudiced policy Prime Minister Ben Blanckenship spoke before the Federal Assembly to affirm the commitment of the Federation to diversity and egalitarian treatment of minorities.

"Florinthus" Blanckenship said "is a nation built on the strong pillar of diversity. Blanckenships words come as no surprise, as he has been a harsh critic of the rather small south Brigidnan state for the duration of his tenure. Strathae itself continues to make headlines for its seemingly bizarre activities and laws. The most notable are the use of deportation as punishment for what the Strathaen state declares "hate speech".

Florinthus has been no stranger to racial and cultural friction. The rising Akhadic population has been a point of contention for many in the right, particularly the Federalist Party. The Blanckenship administrations commitment to simple and easy immigration rights have led to a rise in populations of immigrants being granted citizenship. Crime in particular saw a vast increase in the early to mid 1570s, though research has proven inconclusive as to the correlation between the new citizens and the crime wave.

While the Blanckenship adminsitration has proven itself firm on the subject, many in the right are posturing themselves to make big splashes in the next Federal Assembly elections in 1586.

Iados, Galeae | A milestone for the Galeaen State occurred as the Alumary finally passed legislature removing some of Brigidnas most archaic and difficult election procedures and removing legislation that made it difficult for much of the population to vote.

Strict citizenship laws and awkward polling places made elections mostly ceremonial in the Galeaen state, who had a government controlled by the Nationalist Union of Galeae for essentially the last two decades. The most recent election in 1583 saw a wave of protests against the NUG and a shock victory for the two opposition parties, the Galeaen Party for Liberty and the Galeaen Justice Party. While the two parties would typically oppose each other, they decided to form a coalition to box out the NUG and ensure legislature could be passed that would remove many of the barriers that benefited the NUG in previous elections.

Another major barrier being eliminated is allowing the formation of new parties. Previously, the only legal parties in the Galeaen State were the NU, the PL, and the JP. With the new reforms underway, more parties are expected to be created. Another major constitutional change relates to local government. Previously, the unitary government had trouble administrating many of the local provinces of Galeae properly, with the establishment of different provincial governments, administration will become more localized.

With the new constitutional changes, the Alumary is now expected to vote on a change to the official name of Galeae, which has been the Galeaen State since the removal of the Kingdom in the late 1560s. The new government will be called the Galeaen Republic. The changes are expected to be made official in 1586, with new elections to take place later that year to establish the new government for the Republic.

This momentous occasion saw celebrations in the streets all across the nation as, for once, a government unilaterally acted with the will of the people. Attitudes towards the government are at an all time high and political participation is expected to increase dramatically.
