I am making this country in cooperation with Med.
Nation name: Kingdom of Caparetta
Population: 63,450,100
GDP per capita: $31,120.00
Location
Somewhere in the area designated by the red circle. Nents has given his consent to remove Alstaria so that our nation may have access to the sea. Ideally it would border both the sea (from where Alstaria is now) to the Laurentian Kingdom, as this country contains large numbers of Geins and Laurentians.
Cities:
Turenne (capital) - at the meeting of the two forks of river 2
Erbenhaven - where river 1 empties into the sea
Maulens - between Turenne and the Alstaria border on river 2
Lambersville - somewhere in the south near-ish the border with the Laurentian Kingdom
Hildum - somewhere along the southern half of river 1
Brief description of your country
Caparetta is what some of the more haughty liberal nations would consider to be "politically backward" and "reactionary." Rather, Caparetta simply respects its traditions. A lot. Centuries of tradition, in addition to law, have made Caparetta the country that it is today.
The country is divided in three ways; by language and culture, by religion, and by class. There are simultaneous, and at the same time interconnected, power struggles between the Geins, Laurentians, and Aquitans; the commons, aristocracy, and royal family; and the Avalsyanist and Sentric faiths. These various groups have achieved a fragile balance of power. The current royal family was originally of Aquitan stock, but has interbreeded with the other noble families to such an extent that it doesn't much matter.
The parliament consists of two houses. The Chamber of the Commons is democratically elected by the people, with each representative being elected by his constituents according to electoral district. The Chamber of Royal Deputies consists of the aristocracy. The seats in this house are either inherited or elected by other aristocrats. Serving the function of the executive cabinet, the Royal Council plays a premier role in the governance of the kingdom. It has twelve members representing the various government departments, plus the Crown Prince. The seats of the Royal Council are filled either by the Chamber of the Commons, the Chamber of Royal Deputies, or by the king. The king, as tradition demands, does not meddle directly in the Royal Council, but instead is represented by the Crown Prince. Three seats are filled by the Commons, three by the king, and five by the Deputies, as allotted below:
Ministry of Defense - King
Ministry of Foreign Affairs - King
Ministry of Culture - King
Ministry of Mercantile Affairs - Deputies
Ministry of the Interior - Deputies
Ministry of Justice - Deputies
Ministry of the Treasury - Deputies
Ministry of Immigration - Deputies
Ministry of Agriculture - Commons
Ministry of the Curriculum - Commons
Ministry of Health and Human Services - Commons
In order to maintain themselves, the aristocratic families collect a small tax from their various constituencies and receive a pension from the state treasury. In addition, as tradition demands, capable persons of noble birth are often appointed to fill important positions within the government and military. Most aristocratic families also have investments in the business world, although they do not directly manage their business interests, as that is behavior unbecoming of a noble, and so those of the merchant class are contracted to manage such things.
Brief Summary of how you'd like your country to fit in the world
Caparetta has ethnic ties to many of its neighbors, but because of its political backwardness and lack of liberal policies, it is somewhat isolated politically. The ruling classes routinely go abroad for education, pleasure, and business, however. It is unlikely to be very interventionist, and is only likely to intervene internationally when a situation directly involves it or its immediate neighbors.
We will be focusing mostly on internal RP at least initially.
