>> Click here to add your nation to the 1594 survey! <<

Quote:This is something of a placeholder until I can get around to formatting data and such. I'll eventually make this a pretty post with all kinds of wonderful BBCode and pretty pictures, I'm sure, but you're stuck with this for now:

This is the OFFICIAL database for Siora's Democracy Index, as administered by the "Freedom and Democracy Study" of Nyland's Rue Research Group, a not-for-profit academic study formed by Nylander social, economic and political researchers in 1522. Originally meant to only analyze Nyland's deficiencies and how it could improve, the study eventually expanded to include any and all nations the researchers could reasonably include. PLEASE note that there is no universal definition of "democracy," and while the researchers attempted to be as unbiased as possible, this survey is conducted by Nylanders, and as such the questions and answers will obviously be bent towards their definition of the term.

Quote:Please only submit data for nations that are yours; any "trolling" will be disregarded. Furthermore, please answer truthfully and to the best of your ability; I understand if people interpret questions differently, but it's obvious when someone deliberately tries to nudge up their nation's score (and I can change the responses anyway). I mean, some on. It's just for fun.

3)

5)
The biggest negative mover was Akitsu, which fell from 3rd in 1571 to 56th in 1580;

Some notable information from the survey:

1)
The number of nations included in the survey has decreased by 2, from 64 to 62 nations. That is a 3% decrease; the survey now represents 54.38% of the world's countries, down from 59.26% in 1580.

2)
The average Overall DI for the world has increased slightly: from 6.84 in both 1571 & 1580, to 6.99 in 1594.
This change is due in part to the loss of reported countries coming from the lower end of the spectrum, though some small, real gains in Overall DI have been made in general.

3)
The nation with the lowest Overall DI in 1594 was the Kaljuran Provisional Military Government @ 1.86,
which has retained the spot since the 1580 survey.

4)
The nation with the highest Overall DI in 1594 was Mordvania @ 9.93,
supplanting Angiris (@ 9.34 Overall DI in 1580), which fell to 24th at 8.18 Overall DI in 1594.

5)
The biggest negative mover was Angiris, which fell 23 spots from 1st in 1580 to 24th in 1594 (barely beating Khibland, which fell 22 spots);
The biggest positive mover was Singan, which rose 36 spots from 48th in 1580 to 12th in 1594.

6)
The top Overall DI rose by 0.59; the bottom Overall DI remained constant.

7)
The number of Full Democracies has remained the same, staying at 26 for both 1580 & 1594;
The number of Flawed Democracies has increased, from 17 (1580) to 18 (1594), an increase of 1 entire country;
The number of Hybrid Regimes has fallen, from 11 (1580) to 9 (1594), a decrease of 2 countries;
The number of Authoritarian Regimes has fallen, from 10 (1580) to 9 (1594), a decrease of 1 country.
