Factions in the Nobility Council

As political parties and organized bodies remain banned in the nobility council, since time immortal, the nobility group together in a less formal way in the form of factions. Although no “members” claim these factions names or to even be part of them, this article has named the factions to make understanding the politics of the Nobility a little easier.

The Carolean Faction

Also known as the Caroleans, the name refers to the greatest king to ever rule the land, King Carlo-Felice V, ruler of Lomarre-Castleon-Carpathia. The faction has has held a center-right view, mixing some liberal and conservative views to achieve support of the masses, moreso than the smaller factions that may be considered one sided or fringe. Caroleons tend to support a strong military, and are more protectionist against a totally free market. They can be considered less business friendly and more union friendly than other right wing political parties in the lower council house. They’re policy on energy is that of self sufficiency. They support both green and fossil fuel.

Notable members include:

King Vittorio-Emanuele
Duke Joao III di Meridia
Countess Marina Rosa Elena d’Elise
Count Rodrigo di Ferra
Count Frederik Stuhl
Count Ricardo d’Epas
Count Henri de Fontaine

The Bulwark Faction

The Bulwark Faction mostly consists of hardline conservatives, ranging from  Lanlanian nobles in the south, to the Arch-Bishops of Trivenze and Meridia. The Bulwark is perhaps the most reactionary and sees the safety of Lomarre as a major concern, citing Carpathia as a major threat. The other parties often call the “members” of the Bulwark alarmist, but the Caroleans can more often than not receive support when it comes to the military budget from them. The Bulwark is also the most abrasive towards leftists and left wing nations.

Notable members include:

Arch-Bishop Ramon Sturco
Arch-Bishop Ugo Berna
Count Harald Lundquist
Chancellor Henrik J. Stuhl
Count Umberto di Meridia

Progress Faction

A very loose term used to describe members of the council who are to be considered as far left as the nation can allow it. These members are more often than not social democrats to greens. The faction is in favor of bringing green energy to the country, to the point of removing its nuclear plants they deem as not green enough. The faction is the smallest on the council, though it has more popular support in the urban populace’s of Cerberia and parts of Trivenze. They cite LGBT rights and animal rights to be their most important causes to fight for. They are the most pacifist faction on the council.

Notable members include:

Duchess Mira II di Carvahla
Countess Louisa de la Vera
Count Louis Facon

The Liberal Faction

Considered to be a mix of old style liberalism, libertarians, and social liberals, the Liberals tend to agree on the usefulness of a free market. They often state the governments role should be less invasive in the lives of citizens. They are also alongside the progressives, pro-LGBT rights. Through appeasement, the Faction has achieved civil unions for those who are not heterosexual alongside the Caroleans. The Liberals are less inclined to be in favor of military action, but not to be construed as pacifists.

Notable members include:

Count Giacomo di Trespina
Countess Maria Conte
Count Jon-Christian Fjirk
Count Leopoldo di Haggia
