Government
The Government of Romerike is a Federal Kingdom. There are seven kingdoms bound under the law of Carta vel Foederatum under the rule of the Zaryte Kingdom.
The executive power lies with the Princeps Regem of the Zaryte Kingdom and they are the Head of State and Chief Commander of the military.
Legislative power lies with the Senatus Princeps, or Senate of Kings. This body is made up of the monarch of each of the bound kingdoms and is led by the Legatus Maximus. The Legatus Maximus is elected annually from within the group of seven kings.
Judicial power is held by the thirteen members of the Judicium Magnam. These members are appointed by the Zaryte King and serve terms of 22 years. According to the laws of the Carta vel Foederatum these judges must remain impartial to politicking, and this is reinforced by the Zarosian religion's standard of order and fairness.
The Senatus Princeps has the ability to draft, propose and publish new bills. Once published to the Senate the kings will vote on whether or not to pass the bill to the Princeps Regem for approval. The Princeps Regem may either approve or veto the bill. If vetoed, the Senatus Princeps’ only recourse is to appeal to the Judicium Magnam. Once a bill has been approved by the Princeps Regem, all eight of the kings will pass the laws in their individual kingdoms, and begin enforcement.
The Judicium Magnam has the power to review all laws and bills to determine whether or not they violate the Carta vel Foederatum. If they find a law or bill in violation they will vote amongst themselves on invalidating it.
