Server Hub and Creative Worlds are here!
As always, everything is very much still a very slow "work in progress" as I think of ways to improve stuff. Anyway...
The server hub world has actually been here for a while, though getting there was a rather jank and temporary setup, not to mention it was petty much completely useless. Now though, thanks to the power of portals and some work on my part, you can freely move between different worlds via the server hub, which you can access from the overworld via a shiny new and half-assed portal that has mysteriously appeared next to the Spawn Hut. Mysterious!
That thing. That thing I'm pointing to. That's the portal. Just step through it and BAM! you're gone.
But the server hub isn't the only cool new thing, it's actually the least of it. Well, maybe...it's still pretty cool, but it's not why I'm here! There's portals in the server hub now, and they go places. That's the exciting bit!
Creative worlds, right this way.
The even cooler part is that you can create these kinds of portals yourself, of just about any size, for your own use in-game when I eventually change the /home command to have only one home per person. Just follow the directions from this page and you're on your way to your very own portal networks!
As I stated before, though, I intended to form two different creative worlds, for two different kinds of builds. One would be a regular superflat world for general building, where you could freely test concepts or create items to submit for schematic approval (and thus use in the overworld via Builder NPCs); the other world would be a custom terrain, in case you just want to build for fun without having to hunt for materials. When you visit either of these realms, you will be given a completely separate inventory from your survival one, and your game mode will automagically be set to creative.
I know, I'm pretty great! Just remember, to fly in creative, double-tap your jump key. Have fun out there!
Portals and Spawns within both worlds, that will lead you back to the Hub. Lycrea (custom terrain) on the top, & Flatland (superflat terrain) on the bottom.
What else is on the horizon?
Well, first I want to finish installing some wayshrines/portals on Lycrea to make it muuuuuch easier to return home when/if you travel to the edge of the landmass, instead of having to manually find your way home; I'd also intended to clean the map a bit so it wasn't so obvious that the new map was just copy/pasted into a generated terrain, but...nah. I do still need to protect all the spawns and portals with regions so someone doesn't "accidentally" break them. Just...be careful in the meantime, because breaking the portals will most likely leave you stranded in those worlds until I fix them again.
Also, if you're flying in creative and you get booted from the server, let me know. Hopefully it shouldn't happen, but I don't know how the anti-cheat protection my interpret that.
I don't want to spend too long on any of that, though. My next priority is to fully implement and test uSkyblock on the server. The plugin is there, and the commands work but I don't know how they work, and...well, I created a map for it, but it has no spawn location. I'm wanting to create either a spawn location for that map to house the portal back to the hub, as well as services for the skyblock map. That'll take time. If you want to be a champ, though, and create some islands/airships/whatever in creative that I can plop into the skyblock map, then please do.
On that note, I'd love to have lots of community-created assets for the server, stuff that you guys build in creative maps that I can turn into schematics and use to populate the overworld (or other maps). I'm a slow builder as it is, and given my propensity to do other things, at this rate well be ready for "public" launch sometime in 2020. Any help is appreciated; who knows, maybe I'll find some way to offer rewards to exceptional helpers. Just a thought.
Anyway, happy building!
