Brief description of your country

The Drubang Confederacy is a diverse nation of many peoples, united by a strong central government. Risen from the ashes of the Tobongi Empire, the Drubang Confederacy was united in the very late 1400s by a strong revolutionary leader, Ante Mokorno. After the Tobongi Empire collapsed, he united several of the former provinces into a new state, the Drubang Confederacy. Initially, the expectation was democratic rule, but it soon became clear Mokorno would serve as president for life, as per the new constitution that was drafted following the establishment of the confederacy. Mokorno was a staunch anti communist, and communist and socialist elements were killed en masse in the early Confederacy. Mokorno died several decades later, and his son, Heda Mokorno, was elected as the next president. He was elected in 1538 and is still alive, though he is very old and will probably die or resign in a short while. He is nearly childless, as all his children have died before him. His only child is his daughter Rua. She is expected to run for election, but it is unknown whether or not a woman could win.

The Drubang Confederacy is made up of many peoples and cultures, but they fit into four main groups. The Latang peoples live on the islands in the west of the country (known as the Latangai Archipelago) though they are lumped together, there are in fact hundreds of different dialects on the islands and nearly every village has some variation of the basic Latangai culture and customs. The big cities are dirty and crowded but natural resources are rich in the jungles of the Letang. The Letang are roughly based on the Melanesian peoples.

On the mainland of Ostara is Kalimantra, or the main country. The Kalimantran are the dominant ethnic and cultural group, but as with the Letang there are dozens of subgroups as well, particularly in the western portion, where desert nomads still thrive. These nomads are a distinct culture and ethnic group, but I havent fleshed them out at all yet. Kalimantra is the host of the capital, Ka Drubang, which was built parallel to the largest city in the Confederacy, Muala Lampung. The Kalimantrans dont have a direct relation irl, but blend indonesia, south-east asia, and indian concepts. Something else of note, the city of Huakarta is semi-autonomous, and is a trade and tech hub, tax haven, etc.

The eastern islands are in two portions, the north is the Heiwan Archipelago, where people who are roughly related to the Kazemurans (need opinions from ikarman) are located. I'll be approaching him to go over the relation and what that means, etc. East asian, japanese, etc. is the rough irl parallel, but i dont want to loljapanclone so much.

The southeast islands are the northernmost portions of the Bahaan Islands. These are somewhat phillipines like, as these islands had significant western influence through their history. The Bahaan Islands joined the Drubang Confederacy following a brief independence war from some western nation, and so are the oddballs in the group. Some western influence still exists, and they are a portion of a greater cultural group that I have not named yet in the islands to their south. I've went on quite a bit, but I could flesh all of this out more if you'd like.

Brief Summary of how you'd like your country to fit in the world:

I have a lot of options here, really. I could get involved in the usual expansions and such, but I also have an archaic dictatorship that is ripe for revolution (communist anyone???) With all the ethnic groups and cultural groups, this is a nation united by a strong military and central govt, but poverty persists everywhere in the country, more or less... especially in Latangai and Kalimantra. This too will be something that will have to be addressed in time. Are there other remnants of the Tobongi Empire? probably, but I havent named them or thought much about them. Somewhere south there's probably Tobong, but we dont have to plot it yet.

This state isnt inherently opposed to a place like Kazemura. Initially I wanted it to, and it probably would have national security concerns with a powerful Kazemura, but it doesnt have to come to blows necessarily. A little competition would be interesting, though.

This is a pretty complicated state, and one thats alien to most of my others, so I'm pretty interested in it. Re: size, population, etc. Just rough ideas. Feel free to swat it, bigger it, or smallify if you want, I don't mind. Let me know your thoughts <3
