Esteemed diplomat, the best way we have found to use this system in field tests is to use it on a theatre scale where units are divisions, brigade combat teams or similar, and complete a few rounds to give you the general idea of the broad strokes of the war. Threads can then be written about particular elements of the war with the combat resolution as a backdrop. Completing a few turns and then writing also gives a more realistic chance of withdrawal, as a player may wish to call for an armistice to save their units for later wars, or to forestall embarrassing losses. Under this scale, two combatants could be taking as few as 1-2 turns per week for as long as they desire the war to last.
