Its first club was founded in 1492, FC Otprysk, and it competed in its fist World Cup in the year 1506 though it came home in tenth. Football has held solid as Severyane's top favorite national sport ever since the 1534 World Cup in which Severyane took the second place spot after a spectacular match against Taeunas, the 1542 World Cup when it again took second against Nerysia. The "nail in the coffin" so to speak was when Severyane took home the gold in 1558, beating out Nyland. While the number of football clubs had grown steadily since the 1490s, Severyane's performance in those three World Cups helped Severyane's National Football Association grow past many people's expectations.
