Graphene-based batteries/superconductors are batteries that incorporate graphene into their design. Graphene is a single-layer sheet of carbon atom with amazing properties that have it championed as a totally radical material that'll revolutionize, like, everything. Whether that's true or not isn't what why we're here; the subject for this submission is graphene's use in batteries and superconductors. Some of you may recognize this topic from Brumbrum's thread on it back in Caprecia/Oracia, but I didn't find anything significantly useful there, so let's pretend it's not a thing.

Now, it's more or less accepted that graphene-incorporating batteries increase capacity, extent life-time, and reduce charge time (all four sources supported this). The references cited above all state this is primarily done through the use of graphene anodes in lithium-ion batteries. Doing so enables 10x faster charge times and 10x stored power then graphite-anode lithium ion batteries (Grahenea). Graphene may also help lithium sulfur batteries reach their potential of 2567 Wh/kg. While these high figures are not likely be the final, commercially-available capabilities, graphene batteries are nonetheless expected to be several times more powerful than conventional/li-ion alternatives, as projected by TransportEvolved:

The largest obstacle to graphene batteries is production, though that could simply be because it's an emerging technology, so of course they're still figuring out how to best produce it quickly and cheaply. However, progress is being made. Electric vehicle companies in particular are eager to push the technology forward, with Huawei unveiling a graphene battery in Nov. 2016 (admittedly in a heat-dissipation role). Tesla's also working on it, and some rich guy with too much money. (Graphene-info). Vorbek Materials has also released a the first commercial graphene-enhanced battery to serve as a mobile-charging station. Poland's also started industrial production of graphene back in 2014, so it's really only a matter of time until graphene becomes widespread.

Description:
Graphene-enhanced batteries have a greater capacity, last longer, and charge faster than current types. This would largely have a background effect in-character, enabling phones that last weeks, and electric cars that can travel for longer on one charge. Militarily, it'd also us to power our POWAH AHMOH/powered suits to actually be useful. This will have its own submission at a later date, however.
Role Play States

Holy Lanlanian Empire
Holy Emperor: Feryn I
Prime Minister: Klaus Lofgren
The Holy Lanlanian Empire is a multi-ethnic state based in western Brigidna with territories all across the globe. It is a relic of an older age, an absolute monarchy hidden under a functioning democracy. The empire has historically been the world's leading power, though has long been in decline and was recently overtaken by the Republic of Nyland. Nonetheless, the empire is not an opponent to take lightly.

You can find a more extensive list of stuff that's happened in role play here...if people bothered to add it.
