1584-85 SIFA World Cup Qualifiers

The SIFA World Cup qualifiers are a series of regional matches that determine which nations shall participate in the 1586 SIFA World Cup Mandavines. Two hosts have already been given automatic qualification, Magentina and Lusby & Corwyn, after a brief tournament including the other potential host nations, Puerto Seguro and Skoven. The other two nations will still host matches, but will have to qualify for the World Cup in the usual way. The other thirty places are determined through qualification. Each region has a set number of qualification places, as well as a specific number of wild card bids that allow nations who failed to qualify a chance to play other similar nations to earn their second chance at the tournament. The thirty-two participants are broken down as follows:

host 2
brigidna 12
ostara 6
kvaenna 3
skathia 3

AVIDNA QUALIFICATION

The Avidnan Federation has been given one automatic qualification spot, as well as one wild card spot. With two Avidnan nations already hosting this world cup, Avidna will have three spots in this World Cup, with the chance for four, should the wild card participant qualify. The qualification process for Avidna for the 1586 SIFA World Cup involves two rounds.

The first round whittles down the nine Mandavine nations to one. A special pre-qualification tournament will determine which Mandavine nation will join the five Avidnan states in the second round. The first round separates the nine Mandavine nations into three groups of three. Each team will play their group-mates once. The top team from each group will move on to play each other in a final group of three. Each member of this group will play the others once as well. The winner of this final group will be the lone Mandavine representative to move on to Avidnan qualification in the second round.

BRIGIDNA QUALIFICATION

The Brigidnan Federation has been given twelve automatic qualification spots in the 1586 SIFA World Cup, as well as four wild card qualification spots. There is only one qualification round in the Brigidnan qualification tournament. Each Brigidnan nation is ranked based on their SIFA ranking. Then they are placed into seeded pots based on those rankings. The pots are divided into nine groups randomly, with one nation from each pot being placed into each group

These groups then play a double round robin. The top team from each group receives an automatic bid for the 1586 SIFA World Cup. The top three second place teams also receive an automatic bid. The next four second place teams receive the wild card bids from Brigidna.

OSTARA QUALIFICATION

The Avidnan Federation has been given six automatic qualifier spots, as well as three wild card spots. This makes for a potential maximum of nine Ostaran sides in the world cup.

The Avidnan qualification process involves three rounds. The first round matches up the eight lowest ranked nations in a two-legged playoff. The winners of that playoff moves on to the second round, where they will be seeded with the next eight highest ranked nations into four groups of three to play a double round robin. Six (four group winners and the two top second place teams) of the twelve second round participants will move on to the third round, where they will be seeded with the top nine teams in Ostara into three groups of five teams each. The third round is another double round robin and the top two teams from each group will receive automatic bids for the 1586 SIFA World Cup. The three third place teams will receive wild card bids and a second chance at qualification.
