The "what to do with the Minecraft server" Poll! - Seperallis - 11-27-2018

SO It' been a while since I worked on the MC server, having gotten busy with work and, uh, other projects. In any case, I still remember the plan for the server, but I was mostly stuck on what to do with the map.

The choice was between a world map (Well, multiple connected maps) based upon the Siora MTRP map, or creating a map based on the Andlosheim setting. The advatages of either would be:

Siora:
- you can literally just re-create your nations at a smaller scale. I mean, obviously.
- role play interactions between rp nations in game?
- more people would be interested because of it.
- can create cool stuff about the world that might inspire corresponding cool stuff in RP.

Andlosheim:
- Fantasy map. Everyone builds fantasy stuff anyway with walls and castles, right?
- Can develop an mmo-style overworld with npcs and quests
- A bit more of a fantastical map.
- Mestra has ideas for cool fantasy server cities and stuff.

Really, the difference between either setting is mostly cosmetic. In either case the worlds won't be small, as I anticipate needing maybe about 12 separate large maps to fully cover either option, though in Siora's case much of it will be ocean map with tiny islands (because, you know, that's what the Siora map looks like). Of course, i you have other ideas, I'd love to hear them.

Regardless of what we go with first, I'm most likely going to introduce both options eventually.

ACCEPT ORACIA'S FATE

I could, but I;ll have to do a fair bit more work to get it ready than a map of Siora.

Also, it's...old.

And no one cares.

Except for Lom

One thing that came to mind on my drive home this afternoon, was the question of whether or not to allow vanilla dungeons to spawn on either of these worlds. I most likely would create some dungeons by hand in Andlosheim, but in either case not having the vanilla dungeons (in the overworld, at least) would mean most of their content wouldn't exist, outside some special NPC trade shops I would have to create, just to make sure people have access to them somehow.

Thoughts welcome.

I would say with the Andlosheim map we could develop towns/cities and Kingdoms or what not with other interested parties. I fear that having the Siora map would mean people would want to create their own nation, which might mean less cooperating on building towns and such. I personally wouldn't want to make Mestra on a server map by myself, and I doubt others would want to join me in making the Imperium.

Of course with Andlosheim you also have preexisting Lore, but that could be geared towards the Server stuff, i.e. a main server capitol and landmarks, which could occupy a central map with a HUB type of thing.
