@Jam few questions: how would this affect Kubaniza today? Is there a Mazaghean minority that is bitter and pissed you invaded them? Is this Mazaghean minority causing all kindsa explosive trouble (or did you genocide those problems away? C: )?

How long/developed are you imagining the RP will be? Are you more interested in the storytelling or are you primarily after the gains?

I think that Mazaghean separatism could be interesting for modern roleplay purposes. My own little Northern Ireland, perhaps? Yes, I think that there would be some separatism in Mazaghea today, and some of that separatism would be violent. In general, however, the Mazaghean population would have accepted the status quo as part of the Kubanizan Federation. It's been nearly 60 years, after all.

Kubanizan Mazaghea would also probably affect foreign relations in the region. Hahk has mentioned cryptically his need for "something like this."

I do not plan on making this a quick 5 post snatch-and-grab type of expansion. It will be fairly developed. There are a few stages of the storyline that I outlined that need to be gone through.

60 years doesn't mean too much, to my own dismay. Word on the street is the Russians are still having trouble with the Chechens. Though, it is Russia. Would these guys have similar political rights as other participants of the Kubanizan Federation (eg., they're own Republic in the Federation, akin to the Russia-Chehenya case)? What would happen if they wanted secession?

Good to hear re: length, for various reasons. I'm imagining you could write a pretty developed piece, that tells the tale of the soldiers and civilians in this case of wanton imperialism. If that's the case, you may not need a RP partner to handle the Mazaghean side (unless you really want one). Mazaghea is most likely small anyway.

Kubaniza is very liberal in its politics and government. I was planning on giving Mazaghea it's own republic. It does have the advantage of not having the large religious divide like in Chechnya, though, and hardly any of the political repression. That's not to say that any violence will not be dealt with swiftly and strongly, of course.

The Kubaniza government would probably do all that it could to avoid secession. It would pressure the local government behind the scenes to avoid holding official referenda and the like. It would waffle on any votes concerning the issue. It would basically do anything in its power to legally delay the issue without a solid "no." It would hope the issue would pass into irrelevance with enough time of delaying and stalemate.

In the end, though, it's unlikely the Federation would allow secession, even if peacefully and legally supported by the population.

EC.'s Government Type: Provisional government consisting of elected delegates. The provisional government has given extensive authority to military leaders for the purpose of ensuring the security and stability of the country while in transition. Kubanizan military forces consist of a coalition of khorobri (militia/paramilitary/irregular/volunteer) units called the United Khorobri Forces under the leadership of Vasily Bukanko. When was the Expanding Country's last military conflict? Only a few months before.
Why do you seek to expand? ICly, this would primarily be a power grab by an individual Kubanizan military commander, with ideological (anti-communist), geopolitical (does not want a weak neighbor that is vulnerable to communist or Union influence, plus the usual "more land and resources"), and personal (renown, prestige, and authority would be increased significantly) motivations. This commander's actions will be supported by the higher authority, in the form of Vasily Bukanko, who is the highest military authority and currently the most powerful man in Kubaniza, primarily for geopolitical reasons. Bukanko wishes to increase Kubaniza's power and remove a potential thorn in the side of the country.

OOCly, Kubaniza is very isolated, and I have not done much of anything with it so far. I want to do some RP with Kubaniza, while also creating some interesting history for both Kubaniza and the region, which also has tangible results for my country.

Campaign Plot
Following the signing of the Bukanya Accords, the newly independent Republic of Mazaghea is incredibly unstable. Hatal Sovinov's position as leader of the Mazaghe nation is not as sure as it seemed only a year before, for as Sovinov was an admired war leader, now that peace has arrived he has had trouble finding his footing. In Ochtyr 1525, only a few months after the end of the war, Abaty Shapsug, a former Communist official, through deft political maneuvering, manages to get himself appointed the chairman of the National Governing Committee (also called the National Committee), Mazaghea's provisional government.

Although Shapsug denies being a communist and publicly supports Mazaghe nationalism, he is believed to have Union sympathies by Sovinov and his supporters for his actions prior to and during the Winter War. Leonid Sverbylo, a powerful khorobri (militia/paramilitary) commander of the famed horyany, the mountain men, a zealous anti-communist, offers his support to Sovinov to remove the "communist Union sympathizer," asserting that it is vital to Mazaghea's continued independence.

By the end of the month, Sovinov has accepted Sverbylo's offer of support, and in Nueva, with Sovinov's help, Sverbylo sends troops across the border and straight towards the Mazaghean capital. Fights happen. Eventually , Sverbylo declares Mazaghea's annexation by Kubaniza, with the support of Vasily Bukanko and his United Khorobri Forces (the coalition of khorobri forces which was the principle Kubanizan fighting force during the Winter War). Sverbylo's justification is that he is protecting the Mazaghe and the small Kubanizan minority in Mazaghea from communist subjugation.

Sovinov, a Mazaghe nationalist, does not want his outcome and feels betrayed by the Kubanizans. He joins with Shapsug and/or his supporters and fights against the Kubanizans.

My desired outcome is that the Mazagheans are defeated due to the Kubanizans' superior experience and equipment, as well as the influx of reinforcements from Kubaniza itself. The Kubanizans may also be able to count on some aid from local Mazaghean Kubanizans and other Mazaghean sympathizers.

Potential for Other Player Involvement
Although the Union (at this point consisting of Hahk, Ark, and Nents) is prevented by treaty from interfering directly in the conflict, they may decide to intervene through other means. Videjzeme may also decide to intervene, even with direct military action if they so choose. Others in the Marzanna region or Near East may decide to get involved one way or another (sending volunteers, engaging in diplomacy, etc.)
Approved. You may RP without a partner to control Mazaghea. I expect to see this annexation still affect modern Kubaniza, in the form of low level resistance to foreign occupation and murmurs of independence.

Mazaghea's modern population would be between 2 and 12 million, and its GDP per capita at or under 21k (most likely under). I'll place it on the maps so you know what you're dealing with.

This RP will be focused primarily on the island, right? Did Adwest historically control all of it or only a part?

In any case, I hope you're not expecting to annex the entire island, because it'd be cold day in hell before I give away so much in one go. So this RP should target the southern part of the island. ICly, as grateful as they are, I can't imagine they'd be content to give their sovereignty to Taeunas--we didn't give ours to France, after all. Instead, Taeunas could help them achieve independence and develop into a strong, close partner (military alliance, FTA, trade union, bla bla bla). Taeunas could have sneaked away with the three eastern islands, if you really want to annex something. But if you'd try to annex any part of the main island, I imagine the rebels would laugh in your face and then blast it, as trading one foreign overlord for another is probably not in the rebels' plans.

That aside, could you elaborate more on the plot? What is happening on the island, and what's preventing Adwest from swarming it with half a million men to make it go away? Is the second uprising re: Cynas-SA-Falsea happening in this RP or a later one? Is Jam's Arrenland gonna play any role?

Why do you seek to expand?To use the territory as a staging point to invade Octitania if Wizardness never comes back. Other than that, resources and bigger nation I guess. Dirty Imperialism.

Campaign Plot
Arkiania had long considered Achia apart of the Arkiania since the duchies united in the south of Isle to create Arkiania which then proceeded to invade the Achian duchies, However under the weak rule of High King Alexian Aurelius, Achia gained its independence in 1392. With Kvaenna on the verge of war, Angiris occupied in New Galasia, and Octitania recovering from civil war. Hoping to use those events as a smokescreen, High King Aurelius executes Plan Aehis, which is a plan to claim the Kingdom of Achia and use it as a possible staging area to invade the rest of Isle and reform the Arthian Imperium, a predecessor state to Octitania, Arkiania, and Achia. The top brass of the Royal Arkianian Armed Forces hopes to invade the country and then tighten its hold before there is any response by a superpower to intervene.

People who usually like t ruin the dreams of aspiring empires.

What sort of long-term RP are you imaging tied to this? Do people offer insurgency, or does it everyone suddenly turn into proud Arkianian citizens?
