RE: Eternity Minecraft - Server is Live! - Mestra - 02-25-2020 I suppose there is a consideration of not having a custom map, at least for the time being? would it be possible just to allow random worldgen with a world border, and then eventually add a new world dimension that is customized? RE: Eternity Minecraft - Server is Live! - Seperallis - 02-26-2020 For anything to happen, I unfortunately need Lines to be online for more than 1 minute every other month to update and test the new server location. Well, "need." I've thought about not having a custom map. It's probably what's going to happen for now. RE: Eternity Minecraft - Server is Live! - Seperallis - 05-08-2022 So, some have noticed: the server is back up and running. Yeah, I got the server out of the box finally. I've spent the last couple days re-familiarizing myself with stuff, doing some building and troubleshooting, playing with things and stuff. After looking at some new stuff, seeing that a lot of what I wanted I can finally do, and wasting 8 hours of my day today trying to troubleshoot problems with certain aspects of the current, outdated server, I've come to inform anyone that cares that the server will be updating to the latest Minecraft Java version as of this post: 1.18.2. As part of the process, I'll be wiping player data, starting fresh with plugins, and replacing the overworld. The old world will be usable for at least minute, so drop off your inventory somewhere if you plan to go back for it...or just start fresh, idc. What changes are coming? Nothing too different as far as any server users are concerned, aside from crossplay between Java & Bedrock users, lag reduction, and a completely new 1.18 overworld that will allow everyone to make use of all the new features that have come out in the last five years. This new overworld will directly replace the one currently in use, which will wind up in some kind of archive. I don't yet know if I'll let people continue building on it or not, but probably so. Inventory will not transfer over to the new overworld though, and anything held in inventory/backpack by tomorrow some time soon will be lost when I finalize the update. So, you've been warned. The biggest change is that, aside from the coming overworld, I'll finally be able to start work on custom worlds. I doubt I'll get to doing anything impressive for a good while, as I'll need to find the tools (and get used to them) for making fun stuff. But It's something I can definitely start doing. Adventure worlds? Puzzle worlds? Games and Challenge worlds? I might be able to get a few of them done, yeah. Anywho, I expect the bulk of updates done this week, then it's just a matter of finding the time between work, animu, and card games to get the creative stuff done. |
