Free Arkianian Post - Arkiania - 02-23-2019
The Free Arkianian Post was founded by Arkianian political refugees with the objective of providing uncensored news on Arkiania, to Arkianian's themselves and the world. The Free Arkianian Posts operates anonymously in Arkiania and also operates a pirate radio station inside Arkiania. Reporters and sources of the Free Arkianian Post regularly face arrest and life imprisonment in Arkiania for reporting on stories which are censored and regularly covered up by the Arkianian government. The Free Arkianian Post also operates offices in Octitania and formerly operated Achia before the Arkianian invasion.

After their defeat in 1592, Achian Insurgents had been reduce to nothing more than a low-level terrorist group occasionally launching attacks which mostly failed. However since the beginning of the year, the Achian Insurgency has made a resurgence, the circumstances of which remain unknown. In Marth, multiple attacks were carried out at Arkianian checkpoints and depots claiming the lives of 5 Arkianian Soldiers and injuring 10 and last month multiple towns had been freed after skirmishes which estimates suggest killed 10 and injured 20 soldiers. Arkianian State-Run media has blamed the newly elected ultra-conservative government of Octitania for the resurgence. An Arkianian Commander has been quoted as saying "The fight is not over, but we will prevail just as we have before".

Following a series of setbacks which cost the lives of 35 service members, the Royal Armed Forces deployed in Achia launched a series of offensives over the past few weeks. Numerous towns were secured forcing Achian Insurgents to retreat back into the forests. While government sources claim great success, the reality was less so. While the Royal Armed Forces did make numerous strides, the operation failed to take the numerous supply points and border towns which keep the Achian Insurgents supplied. The offensives however did cost the Insurgents countless resources and men. Over the entirety of the Operation, Insurgents are estimated to have lost up to 500 men. Government sources indicates that the Royal Armed Forces suffered 12 losses, however independent estimates suggest up to 54 men were killed in the fighting. There was also a number of suspected human rights abuses carried by Arkiania soldiers such as execution of prisoners of war, and arrests made throughout the towns that were cleared. With the conflict heating back up once again, and tensions fuming between Arkiania and Octitania, analysts fear a confrontation between Arkiania and Octitania in the future.

Offensives against Achian Insurgents continue into their second month and conflict escalates to a higher intensity. Last week fighter jets struck targets deep in the forests believed to be major depot and training camps. Arkianian Ground Forces continued their steady advances in securing towns, however the advance came to a steady halt in what is seen as the most intense battle since Arkianian-Achian War of 1588. The battle was located in a city called Galati, it consisted of 100,000 people. Its populace had strong Achian nationalist base, and became a haven for Achian Insurgents since the end of the war. A detachment garrisoned in the town became overwhelmed by Insurgent attacks, and soon they would become surrounded. A relief force was sent to save the surrounded Arkianian soldiers, they would soon too be embroiled in the battle, however the detachment was saved. The battle is currently still ongoing with casualty estimates at 120 insurgents and 13 Arkianians. Civilian casualties are unknown. Government sources claim they have killed 300 insurgents, and also claim they are near the end of the battle. In reality however it seems the battle is taking longer than expected for Arkianian Forces.

The Arkianian Goverment confirmed a confrontation with Octitania during an emergency press conference this morning. A wing of the Arkianian Royal Airforce struck targets inside Octitanian territory with the justification according to HRH Tiberius Aurelius that "Octitania forfeited its sovereignty over that area the moment they decided to train and supply terrorists from it". According the Octitanian government, the Arkianian planes were intercepted the moment Arkianian aircraft entered the airspace. However, a flight of aircraft the Octitania government suspects were stealth aircraft slipped through and successfully hit their targets. The Air Battle that ensued according to the Octitanian government led to the loss of 4 Octitanian aircraft and 2 Arkianian Aircraft. 1 Octitanian pilot, and 1 Arkianian pilot are believed to have been killed, with surviving pilots safely ejecting in their respective territories. The Armed Forces of both nations have been put on high alert, with no indication that diplomatic discourse is going to happen between the two nations to calm tensions.

The most intensive fighting since Arkiania-Achian War in 1588 has come to an end as Arkiania Royal Armed Forces cleared the final stronghold in Galati. In a battle that has lasted a month, the Royal Armed Forces found itself having to clear the entire city. As a result of house to house fighting the many parts of the city were devastated, with many civilians caught in the crossfire. However, Achian Insurgents were able to evacuate many out of the city when the fighting first began. At the beginning insurgent forces were holding out successfully even as a relief force of Arkianian forces came, however as fighting got more intense heavy vehicles and air support started rolling to the city, by the last two weeks insurgent supplies were cut off, and it was only a matter of time before the last stronghold was taken. Insurgents forces lost over an estimated 1,000 men, with Arkianian estimates at 112 men. With the Battle of Galati over, Arkiania is back on the offensive, with insurgent forces devastated.
