THE HOLY LANLANIAN-LOMARREAN TREATY OF 1568

The Government of the Holy Lanlanian Empire and the Government of the Kingdom of Lomarre, recognizing the rising dangers poised to overcome Brigidna as a threat to both themselves and one another, considering their historic cordial relations and cooperation as the basis of a greater relationship, considering that their common defense and security will be advanced by greater military cooperation, have agreed as follows:

Article 1
The Parties will make every utmost effort to maintain a mutually beneficial and prosperous relationship.

Article 2
The Parties will make utmost effort to resolve their differences and disagreement without resorting to the use or threat of armed force. Should they fail to resolve an issue through private negotiations alone, they will instead turn to a mutually-agreeable mediator, whose resolution will be accepted by both Parties as final and binding.

Article 3
The Parties will, to the best of their abilities, share with one another information that may affect one another’s national, social, or economic security.

Article 4
The Parties will consult together periodically or upon one Party’s request concerning the security of themselves, one another, and western Brigidna and any policy or action that they, separately or jointly, may take to protect it.

Article 5
In order to more effectively achieve the objectives of this Treaty, the Parties, by means of continuous and effective self-help and mutual aid, will maintain and develop their individual capacity to resist armed attack.

Article 6
The Parties agree that an armed attack against the either of them shall be considered an attack against both of them and consequently they agree that, if such an armed attack occurs, each of them will assist the Party so attacked by taking forthwith individually and in concert such action as it deems necessary, including the use of armed force, to restore and maintain one another’s security.

Article 7
This Treaty will immediately enter into effect once instruments of its ratification have been exchanged by its signatories. It shall remain in effect for period of eight years from its ratification, and may be extended by four years thereafter by mutually agreement.

Article 8
After this Treaty has been in effect for ten years, either Party may cease to be a Party one year after having given a notice of denunciation to the other.

Article 9
The original copies of this Treaty, of which the Lanlian and Lomarran texts are equally authentic, will be deposited within the archives of both Parties.
