RE: The Taming of the Elk - Flo - 11-29-2017 Vintyr 1587 ----- Anton Kaalamuni was the new president of Harmajaa on the back of a wave election that put the New Social Left in power, taking an outright majority in the Harmajaan Parliament. This was considered a shocking result. Many expected the NSL to gain many seats, but few expected so much, as the Tomaa Party, the centre-left incumbent, was fairly popular. Still, the rhetoric of the NSL was attractive to mant voters, particularly those from Lappa. Their claims to represent all Saamo and establish a new system that served all Saamo spoke to their needs in the still very much underprivileged Lappa. With a legislative mandate to work with, the New Social Left had their work cut out for them. This new Socialist/Nationalist wave would demand results sooner, rather than later. The Final Election Results: New Social Left: 214 seats Tomaa Party: 91 seats Green Party: 45 seats Conservative Party: 36 seats One Saamo Party: 12 seats Independent: 27 RE: The Taming of the Elk - Flo - 11-30-2017 Marth, 1588 ---- Anton Kaalamuni was only a few months into his young presidency when he first visited Sappa. He had heard much about the governments efforts there to not only build an economy, but develop the infastructure needed to ensure long-term success. This, Anton believed, was the perfect setting to establish the framework for Saamo socialism. This fresh territory, still only barely developed, would become the symbol of the new Saamo state. Lappa required help as well, as much of it was still in shambles following the war in the former Balochia. Construction projects were being planned, including a new highway that would connect Arl Lappa with Tyko, with other major cities along the way. It would connect the new territory with Harmajaa proper, where most of the wealth, investment, and infastructure was. These were only part of the plans of Anton and the New Social Left. Their ultimate goal, which was closer than they originally expected, was to form a new Saamo state. Harmajaa was a regionalist name, from a time when Saamo were oppressed abroad. It was time to identify this land as the primary home for the Saamo nation. For now, establishing state run companies that would manage the development of investment in Sappa was a step. The government had not yet decided if it would nationalize the investment already done by foreign agents, particularly Mordvanian, but a decision would come in due time. |
