  Sphere: Sidgard
Posted by: Ayzek - 09-05-2016, 07:14 PM - Forum: Andlosheim OOC - Replies (8)

The Sidgardian sphere encompasses the High Kingdom of Sidgard and the areas around it. Other major civilizations in the area are Starslagen Confederacy and the Sinne Realms—which are the dominant powers together with Sidgard. There's a multitude of smaller powers, most of which can be considered client states of the High Kingdom. This region can also be considered the "heartland" of Andlosheim, as it is home to the Pristine Fountain, a massive natural reservoir of magical power, and the setting of many historical events that affected the entirety of Andlosheim—including the Great War of the Gods.

Power in this region does not lie only with countries, however. There's many influential organizations that transcend borders. The Holy Order is the largest of such organizations.

This a great setting if you're after the general medieval-European/high fantasy flavor.

Factions

The Kallayadeva
The fountain is home to a boy. Pretty much all he does is sit there. Never eats, never sleeps, never even seen to blink. Certainly doesn't age. He's dreadfully pale, white-haired, and silver-eyed. Over the ages, an organization of 'wise men' has gathered around him—building a sanctuary around the fountain—the Pristine Fountain, so named due to its mystically clean and gleaming water. The boy is called Siora. The organization, the Kallayadeva (the Sourcers), work to discover and protect not only the Fountain, but knowledge, both written and oral, throughout Andlosheim. They're generally treated with respect among the civilized races. Though the boy rarely moves or even talks, the few times he has Very Serious Business unfolded. He predicted the death of High King Husmund in battle against the Blackspawn, warned the Archmages of Lord Bryt's inevitable succumbing to Chaos, and even single-handedly defeated an invasion by the High Lich Gruva. It's also believed that the boy visits people in their dreams, providing advice and forewarning of things to come.

The High Kingdom of Sidgard
The largest noble kingdom in Andlosheim, ruled by the High King from his impenetrable fortress in the sprawling city of Sidgard. As Andlosheim's greatest noble power, it often leads the wars against not only the Blackspawn, but also against the heretic kingdoms and other 'rogue' states. It's most prominent fighting force is the Vittaslatt Riddareva (Whitecastle Knights)—commonly referred to as simply "the Knights". The Knight are usually at the head of a charge, though also serve as law enforcement during times of peace.

The Circle of Mages
The chief association of mages that often cooperates with the High Kingdom in it's just pursuits. Much like the Kallayadeva, the Mages value knowledge, and are lead by the wisest and most powerful magic users—the Archmages. The Circle's rights and privileges vary between states, and they are even banned altogether in some—likely due to their susceptibility to Chaos. Indeed, the Holy Order is known to kill mages on sight where it has been granted that right.

The Holy Order of Saint Augustine
Most commonly known simply as "the Order", the Holy Order is a paramilitary religious organization—the largest in Andlosheim. Headquartered in the Crystal Basilica on the borders of the High Kingdom of Sidgard, the Order controls enclaves throughout the known world—granted territory here and there by various states to help it in it's crusade against the Chaos and the Sinne-fortayadeva.

The organization is led by His Holiness, assuming a man who is believed to be the original Lord Joshua (once a member of the Sidgardian nobility, though abdicated his titles in favor of the Order), though no one has seen the man in thousands of years. Indeed, the Order is usually represented in public by Archangels—the Lord's most devout supporters who have ascended beyond their mortal bodies into holy beings. The true military strength of the Order is unknown, as, though there are only seven Archangels, their mere existence suggests the Order is capable of more. For the most part, the Order engages using mortal races.

The Sinne-fortayadeva
The Mind-eaters, more commonly called the Sinne, are a cruel group of creatures and humans that, using magic, are capable of utterly destroying a person's soul, rendering their body a mindless slave. Consequently, they are a firm enemy of both the Order and all noble states. Nonetheless, the Sinne have managed to carve themselves states in Andlosheim—states powerful enough to force a fragile peace with the noble powers.

The Starslagen Confederacy
A loose alliance of a multitude of minor monarchs and city-states, united under the banner of it's tolerant boy-king. Bordering both Sidgard and the Sinne, the Confederacy is under constant external threat, though has nonetheless largely rejected the Order—instead favoring self-sufficiency and a strong central army formed of a variety of races. Indeed, a tolerant society, many races have gathered beneath the king's banner, providing strength in return for equal rights—a relatively rare status in Andlosheim. Though some of the human lords within the confederacy frown on this, their trust in and fear of the boy-king dissuades them from defying his wishes.

Interestingly, it seems this boy-king has sat on his throne since the birth of the Confederacy, though it is unknown how. Immortality is usually beyond those of noble spirit, and the gods aren't often will to provide it.

The Blackspawn
The Blackspawn are the agents of Chaos that seeks to destroy Andlosheim. In short, they're demons, and little is known about them, beyond their basic combat capabilities. The Blackspawn make rare large-scale intrusions into the Sidgardian sphere, attempting to spread their disease. More often than not, however, the Blackspawn are elusive, solitary creatures that murder lone or unprotected travelers, raid outlying villages, or engage in assassinations of high-valued targets—which suggest they're fairly sentient and capable of advanced thought. Furthermore, persons under high mental stress are known to turn into Blackspawn—succumbing to Chaos. Depending on their natural strength, this can bear very bad news for Andlosheim.

The most famous succumbing is that of Archmage Lord Bryt, who destroyed an entire city before being killed by the Archmages.

Other Factions
Andlosheim is a large place, occupied by various races and lifeforms. Dragons are believed extinct in the region, as they were the target of a genocide by most noble states.

Potentially Interesting Characters/Projects

Characters
If you're interested in trying out one of the following characters, talk to Ayzek:
  • Sidgardian High King during a previous Infestation or great war: human or elf
  • Outlaw Dragon Rider: any humanoid (the adventure of a dragon rider in a world where his kind may be killed on sight)
  • High Lich Gruva: humanoid lich (how did he become what he is?)
  • Sinne monarch/heir: any humanoid

  • World origin story: the great war between the gods, leading to their banishment from the World by the primordial deity Lag.
  • Order origin story: Lord Joshua's story, from the lord of a small manor at the edge of Sidgard to the warlord of what'd become the largest, most powerful paramilitary religious organization in the history of everything.

  List of MyBB BBCode
Posted by: Ayzek - 09-05-2016, 06:15 PM - Forum: The Bulletin Board - Replies (4)

A list of default MyBB code is available here. All of that is active here. Most is the same as what we're used to. While myBB inherently lacked tables and spoilers, Adminstration has already fixed this oversight. The majority of code is largely the same; you can review it all in that link above.

However, for ease of access, I'll post the most prominent differing codes here:

Alignment

In Zetaboards, we had [left][center][right] to align things. MyBB instead has:

Code:
Code:
[align=right]Right[/align]
[align=center]Center[/align]
[align=left]Left[/align]
[align=justify]Justify[/align]

which Produces:
Right
Center
Left
Justify

Images

My BB uses:
Code:
Code:
[img]http://board.eternityrpc.com/images/badges/administrator.png[/img]
[img=75x30]http://board.eternityrpc.com/images/badges/administrator.png[/img]

Produces:
[Image: administrator.png]
[Image: administrator.png]

Heading

The [h] tag is meant to give you a quick and standarized way of adding headings to your stuff, using the pre-defined html heading tags.

Code:
[h=1]Heading 1[/h]
[h=2]Heading 2[/h]
[h=3]Heading 3[/h]
[h=4]Heading 4[/h]
[h=5]Heading 5[/h]
[h=6]Heading 6[/h]

Projects:

Heading 1

Heading 2

Heading 3

Heading 4

Heading 5

Heading 6

Point
The [point] BBtag is meant to replace the tag for those of us for who words (and pre-defined headings) just aren't good enough. It takes your numerical input, adds a "pt", and plugs it into a span's style. It only goes up to 69, to avoid abuse.

Code:
[point=1]1[/point]
[point=5]5[/point]
[point=10]10[/point]
[point=20]20[/point]
[point=40]40[/point]
[point=69]69[/point]
[point=70]70[/point]
[point=200]200[/point]

Projects:
1
5
10
20
40
69
[point=70]70[/point]
[point=200]200[/point]

Size

The size here uses keywords, as opposed to numbers. Until you get a good hang on this, it may be better to use the provided buttons. But, regardless:

Code:
[size=xx-small]xx-small[/size]
[size=x-small]x-small[/size]
[size=small]small[/size]
[size=medium]medium[/size]
[size=large]large[/size]
[size=x-large]x-large[/size]
[size=xx-large]xx-large[/size]

Produces:
xx-small
x-small
small
medium
large
x-large
xx-large

Spoiler

The spoiler tag here is exactly like the tag in Zetaboard.

Code:
[spoiler=Title]Content[/spoiler]

Produces:
Show ContentTitle:

Tables

For some godforsaken reason, myBB does not have a default table BBCode. It's unfathomable. The Internet made it better though. You should have a "TableGenerator" under the Smilies box. That'll help you create tables. You'll need to copy+paste it into the textbox though.

For those who prefer to write the code themselves, however: our BBcode works just like the HTML table tags, though with fewer options. See below. This system is arguably more powerful than Zetaboard's, as it allows setting the column span.

Code:
[table=Super Title]
[tr][th]Title 1[/th][th]Title 2[/th][th]Title 3[/th][/tr]
[tr][td]Cell 1[/td][td]Cell 2[/td][td]Cell 3[/td][/tr]
[tr][td]Cell 4[/td][td][/td][td]Cell 5[/td][/tr]
[tr][td=3]Cell 6[/td][/tr]
[/table]

Produces:
Super Title
Title 1Title 2Title 3
Cell 1Cell 2Cell 3
Cell 4Cell 5
Cell 6

Tabs

Code:
[tabs]
[tab=Title 1]Content 1[/tab]
[tab=Title 2]Content 2[/tab]
[tab=Title 3]Content 3[/tab]
[/tabs]

Produces:

Title 1

Content 1

Title 2

Content 2

Title 3

Content 3

Tooltips

The tooltip I installed is the exact same as the tooltip we had on Zetaboards.
Code:
[Tooltip=Title]Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, diceret pertinax abhorreant te sea, vero omittantur vis in. No odio partem appellantur eam, eu vel porro possim eripuit, nulla noster sit in. Mazim mundi mei an, an feugiat oportere duo. No tantas maiestatis pri, saepe quidam ceteros ex quo, reque doctus option ea nam.[/tooltip]

Produces:

Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, diceret pertinax abhorreant te sea, vero omittantur vis in. No odio partem appellantur eam, eu vel porro possim eripuit, nulla noster sit in. Mazim mundi mei an, an feugiat oportere duo. No tantas maiestatis pri, saepe quidam ceteros ex quo, reque doctus option ea nam.

Could there be a factbook section on the board for those who don't know how to use the wikis maybe organised so each nation has their own factbook section that wants it. Reason I' saying this is not everyone is good at wikis and coding and sometimes need the forums help like buttons for certain functions for example.

Election Fallout: Senate makeup more diverse after strong showings from Orthodox Conservatives, Democrats
Upstart parties gain power as long dominant Republicans and Conservatives weaken

CATHEDRIUM - The 1578 Senate elections showed that there is much yearning for new blood amidst generations of Republican and Conservative political dominance. Though the Republican Party still managed to win the most seats in the Senate, they lost strength after three straight Senate elections of gaining seats. The final table showed Republicans on 27 seats, Conservatives on 13, Democrats on 13, Orthodox Conservatives on 11, Federalists on 5, Imperialists on 4, Independents on 3 and Communists on 1. The Republicans, Conservatives, Federalists and Independents all lost seats in this election. Republicans lost 4, Conservatives dropped a whopping 12, Federalists lost 6 and Independents lost 2.

The biggest losers on the night were undoubtedly the Conservative Party. Losing twelve seats - many of them to the Orthodox Conservatives - has greatly sapped their power and has cast doubt on the party's role as the chief opposition to the ruling Republicans. Despite this, the Conservatives still maintain a powerful organizational structure that outdoes many of the other parties and this structure led to a Imperial campaign victory in the referendum vote. So if there is a silver lining in the dark clouds of this election, it's the referendum victory. Another big loser was the Federalist Party who also took a big hit after two straight cycles of improving numbers with many of their losses coming at the hands of the upstart Democrats not to mention the loss in the referendum, which the Federalists took more hard than the Republicans had. Losing two seats in the traditional Federalist heartland of Xiansai to the Democrats served as a warning to the Federalists that things have gone south fast. It's hard to say whether or not the failure in this election may spell the doom of the Federalist Party, but for what's it worth the party still has some fight left.

Speaking of, the Democratic Party was the clear winner of the Senate election, taking 13 seats in their electoral debut. Despite the Democrats campaigning as the party of the center, they only managed to pick off their seats from Republicans and Federalists. This result in a way hurt the Democrats' pitch in the short term as a centrist party because of their lack of pickups from Conservatives or Orthodox Conservatives, but in the long run it may payoff as their broad appeals look to extend far beyond the left and center-left. Another big winner, though the numbers may not show that, was the Communist Party. For decades, Communism was labeled a "twin evil" with Fascism. This year, that stigma was challenged after a Communist managed to get elected in the Skovos province of Sorcae. If this is an indication of what may yet come, then we may only be hearing the first faint rumblings of Communism seeping into the Angirisian political atmosphere.

Even though the election ended in a hung Senate, the Republican Party still emerged as the largest party and one in very good shape to form a governing coalition. They would truthfully only need the 13 new Democrats elected this year to push a coalition to 40 and that's not including traditional allies in the Federalist Party nor if any Independents decide to enter a coalition.
